Any word on Revalver 4 release?

Revalver 4 is in dire need of an amp with a graphic EQ, or at least amps better suited for heavy sounds (ENGL perhaps?). i can't for the life of me figure out how to dial in a mid-scooped (or even somewhat darker) tone out of any amp. all high gain amps in Revalver sound kinda samey once you get past a certain preamp gain level. i mean, yeah, high gain kinda is like that, but i can dial in a million different sounds in Amplitube just by changing the amp (without changing a cabinet) - not so with Revalver.
oddly enough, ACT is of great help here - it doesn't sound quite natural, but it does get me in the ballpark.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

You can get more realistic (for amps, anyway) tone shaping when you put an EQ in between the preamp and power amp. That's one of the reasons Rev III.V stands out. Once AmpBuilder comes along I'm sure there will be people building preamps and power amps for just that reason.

Along the lines of EQ, though the input mixer has a lowpass filter a highpass is oddly missing.

Interesting... Is AmpBuilder a technology promised as part of Revalver or a separate product from another company?Dominus wrote:You can get more realistic (for amps, anyway) tone shaping when you put an EQ in between the preamp and power amp. It is not a part of ReValver, but it is used to build amps for it. BTW: All amps in R4 were built using it. It is, as R4, Peavey's!AC222 wrote:Interesting... This would be cool as you could name the level pre after the matching guitar.EvilDragon wrote:Yes, even better would be multiple input level presets, nameable.

A must. Very "clumsy" user experience as it is to move from preset to preset.hibidy wrote:oh, and a next preset button. Really hard to stop playing, open the presets, navigate to where you want, select a preset and then if you just want the next preset go through all of that again.

Since I'm in feedback mode, something I'd really like to see in the current amp sims is envelope followers and lfos that you can connect to any knob or slider. See FabFilter Saturn for instance. This opens up a lot of dynamics possibilities, not the least of which is giving users a way to make their rigs responsive to touch in a way that feels good to them. A simple example would be putting an envelope follower on the gain knob of an amp or drive knob of a pedal to accentuate that effect. Put one on the presence knob so that presence either increases or decreases depending on how hard a note is played. Put them on effect mix knobs so that notes played louder increase or decrease the mix level. Put an enevelope follower on a splitter mix knob. Louder notes could shift slightly to one side of the splitter than the other. The dynamic effects you can get with a little envelope follower are endless.

hibidy! Yeah, I think Malcom and Angus used a combination of various Plexis and a JTM 45 with KT66s. The Revalver Bluesmaker aka Bluesbreaker model should get you in territory of the JTM 45 as the Bluesbreaker is kind of a derivative of the JTM models but with a little less bottom end and brighter top end.
Regarding Plexi tones, I think the Scuffham S-Gear Stealer model (based on a custom Park amp) does an ok job copping that but it's a bit too jangly for my taste and no matter how hard I try to eq that model, it sounds too jangly to me.
Aside from Revalver and Scuffham, I think the JH Gold (jimi hendrix jtm 45 in amplitube) will do a great job in getting you part of the way. The JH Gold is really great and I think one of Ik's better amps imo. I haven't tried the IK Plexi model extensively but I hear that one isn't quite as good as it was one of the very early IK iterations.
Yeesh... I'm too tired from fantasy drafts. Better go put dat Gruden face on now....

well, the thing is, i don't *want* to use the post-EQ section. i'm used to using EQ only for corrective purposes, not for tone shaping. for that i usually use an amp, cab and mic position. and it works with every amp sim i have, aside from Revalver. i dunno why, maybe it's because the tonestacks in Revalver suck, maybe it's just so different than everything else, or so realistic that any experience i have with "fake" ampsims doesn't work here, but i can't get even close to what i want to hear if i'm after that kind of tone. again, not so with Amplitube and just about anything else (Creme? Ignite Amps, LePou stuff?) i have. even S-Gear can do that with Wayfarer.hibidy wrote:Maybe I'm not following, but the eq in the output section is of no help?
