Can somebody recommend me any good web links for Windows XP tweaking for DAW laptop? Or maybe you can share your own personal tips, anything besides "disabling everything running in a background" kind of advice?

Also, any good sources for overclocking cpu (in laptop)?

Great, thanks! What about overclocking CPU? There was a good article in one of the latest CM magazine, but only talked about desktop. Anybody had any luck overclocking their laptop, preferably Thinkpad brand?

if your DAW is being used for a business then don't overclock - it will compromise stability.
If it's a home computer then it wont matter so much - it depends on your bios as to how simple it is to achieve.

I would recommend XPlite - www.litepc.com - and get rid of ie, outlook express, and anything else in there you dont need - I'm using firefox and thunderbird very successfully here - and it's nice to have the lower RAM load and the slight cpu performance increase.

Kind regards

Dave Rich.

I would not ever try to overclock a Laptop... sounds like a sure way to fry it... they get hot enough under load as it is...
