Oh dear, have I offended against KVR law? I hope nobody got a heart attack here by my unruly comment

EDIT: totally unrelated: there is actually a channel strip named "STRIP" by audiod3ck, although it is spelled "ST-R-I-P". I would suggest a web-2.0-ish name change to STRP, but of course you can already follow "strp" on "tumblr"... sigh... i miss the old internet...

Take it as a friendly advise, friend. you are more then welcomed to judge plugins by their looks.

And I meant "Welcome to the future" in a literal way. this IS how things go, whether we like it... or not :)
Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

You have to admit, it does look like the 88RS.
But I'd love to take a spin with it first and make up my own mind on this.

Actually, as I explained, i focus more on usability, of which looks is a part of for sure.

Hey, just noticed STRIP is released...

@DFoisie: thanks for advice, I'll try soon!

EQ phase seems off.
Is that a bug, or a demo limitation?

Big fan and customer of DDMF, but in this case it is a huge fail for me personally, uses more CPU than a bunch of plugins chained (Tried all the NI dynamics and EQ/DC8C/Stillwell plugins/ReaFX/DDMF own IIEQ pro)
Sad to say that not only does it use more CPU than a chain, but also does not sound anywhere near as good as any of the combos above :(

Was really excited to try this, but sure wont be buying it, this is just my own personal opinion mind you, it may suite others perfectly

Really not bad, good warmy analog flavours and sensations! :tu:

Definitely a character strip. There are a few bugs -- LPF inverts the phase, compression meters does not show GR levels correctly (all Win64x). But the EQ is solid, gate is rather musical sounding -- adds nice bite to the attacks if set fast, and the compressor is the BOMB!

Post

Yes indeed, seems the VU is showing no GR in Win 32x as well.

Hope these bugs get worked out quick. Dont know if it Phase inverts on 32x also, I'll see if I can check.

Also knob values are unbalanced with the range being extremely small in the first half of the knob range, and then a HUGE range in the second half of the knob.

Hope these get fixed soon

fese wrote:And this is where I have a tiny problem with the completely unlabeled buttons of STRIP: looking at the EQ I see "LMF", "MF" and "HMF", but there doesn't exist a convention what that means in frequencies. When I am mixing e.g. Drums and think "let me just cut a bit at 400-500Hz to remove some boxiness" I don't want to hover over the buttons first or look in the manual which knob covers that specific frequency. Is it at LMF or MF? It is just unnecessary distraction for the brain.
You might say I am nitpicking, but I am a firm believer that form should follow function and in this case it means that some scale or labels on the frequency knobs would really improve workflow.
docdued wrote:- the values are being shown while turning the sliders, or when just clicking on them. I think this is a good compromise of keeping a clean interface while still having the information ready when it's needed.
The EQ knobs now list their range from beginning to end. I think this is a good compromise.

Well this was a nice surprise! Just heard about this thing and had to come here and say: AWESOME COMPRESSOR MAN!!! :D

Lovely channel strip in general. Very nice and easy to use and I immediately got satisfying results. A bit buggy for sure but those will be fixed. DDMF always fixes stuff quickly which is nice.

An almost insta-buy from me. :)

Cheers!
