Not for myself. When comparing the quality, features & prices between the two there's no need to have both.
If one can't get excellent results using either one there's likely other issues involved.

So the "Pro q is for hobbyists" came from DMG not an engineer friend, is that correct. Love to hear Dave Gamble come on and clarify that statement. Maybe I will drop him a note, better still Compyfox why dont you.Love to hear his response.
To be very clear "We're not fussed - it's nowhere near as featured, ... It's a good sign, we keep the pro-market, they keep the hobbyists, everyone's happy." is the direct quote you are attributing to them.

I don't know if I should take this as a compliment, or active stalking.highkoo wrote:Well, at this point youve managed to piss off various groups for various reasons, all in one thread, to the point that everyone is so convinced of your jackassery that they are not posting, so Id say its pretty much buttoned up with a bow on...![]()
Because sh*t hit the fan after I first posted already.
It's as if there are users basically waiting in front of the keyboard only to shred my posts apart. I see that happening for over half a year now. And yes, those people know who they are.
So I'll post a friendly invite now:
Let's duke it out, fair and square.
Show what you're capable off, people - join the KVR Mix Challenge.
Sorry but I beg to differ on this one.highkoo wrote:Fwiw, I think many of us do respect your "20 years in the audio realm", and do not hold any gear list for or against you.
Else our particular individuals would have shrugged it off and wouldn't have brought it up in the first place.
I cause "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt" - now that is a new one.highkoo wrote:And I dont think many people really take offense to the 'hobbyist v. pro' stance either, but aside from that, your persistence in this thread amounts to FUD, imo.
Now THAT is a good question indeed.4damind wrote:The interesting question.. are there some DMG Audio users interested to switch to Pro Q 2?
I was informed that Dave Gamble currently not available - which is why I go this response from his "staff" (engineers) after I asked the question "what do you think of this development, do you catch up?!".woodsdenis wrote:So the "Pro q is for hobbyists" came from DMG not an engineer friend, is that correct. If either of the staff will join this... "debate"... I'm sure they'll just take a laugh and say "moving on". Apparently, the Fabfilter staff is doing the same. Else you'd see them post in here.
So this whole mess is really only due to people who took comments down the wrong pipe.

But can it get me from Point A to Point B?
That is the question.
Fine details like "time needed" and "gas consumption" is a totally different topic. Not to mention comfortable seating.

Well I just sent him a mail, don't know that a real pro like him would be too happy with the comments you have attributed to his company, we will see.

Equick - possibly. Equilbrium - lot harder imo if you did your customization already.4damind wrote:The interesting question.. are there some DMG Audio users interested to switch to Pro Q 2?
Depend on your system config/OSX ver, if you're on Logic 9 bigger deciding factor maybe how responsive GUI is; DMG has had trouble on random freeze or slow down depending on ver/video card, Fabfilter plugs suffer less problems since they did the accelerated GUI (post 10.6.8/pre 10.8.4 was really painful for a lot of plugs).

Your right you are beyond ridiculous, you have directly quoted an alleged comment by a rival company on a public forum. If true this kind of petty behavior would make me think far less of DMG audio. IDK about others.Compyfox wrote:Definitely can't wait for the C&D letter I'll be getting.woodsdenis wrote:...don't know that a real pro like him would be too happy with the comments you have attributed to his company, ...

If that's so "petty", why do you hang yourself up on it anyway?woodsdenis wrote:Your right you are beyond ridiculous, you have directly quoted an alleged comment by a rival company on a public forum. If true this kind of petty behavior would make me think far less of DMG audio. IDK about others.
EDIT 21:01:
Actually - not worth it.
Companies know each other, and if company F is scared of company D, or users from company D quoting comments by that company towards company F, and the users of company F are "pissed off by that"...
Where has this gone to?
Oh wait... let's go back to the hardware stone age where pretty much every company stabbed towards company B. Yet company B gave a damn about it and is still revolutionizing the low to mid-budget market.

Hi Compy
Yesterday I added to digs at you for using Behringer gear. I should have resisted that urge but I didn't. It was a cheap shot so I apologise for my part in it.
However, I don't agree with your view on "low post count" users.
Sometimes people in this forum (and this isn't actually aimed at you), like the sound of their own voice and are creating multiple posts on the same topic in some kind of race to see who can get the highest post count.
This is not something to be applauded.
Often, the quietest person in the room has plenty to offer the conversation but keeps quiet until such time that they have something useful or helpful to say. After a while, others realise that when this person does speak, it's more than likely going to be something worth hearing. I look forward to such posts from BManic, Dave Gamble, Paul Frindle and others for this very reason.
In these instances, they actually bring more value to a forum than those clogging it up with endless, and perhaps a lot of the time, needless "noise".
If you got second place in the KVR mixoff (or whatever it is called) using Behringer speakers then that is something you can be extremely happy with. I take my hat off to you for that achievment. That being said, I can't help but wonder how easily you might have won it had you invested a bit more in your monitoring!
Paying almost as much as you did your speakers for ARC to correct / improve them seems like it might have been money better saved towards buying a more respectable speaker at some point in your career no?
I need better speakers for what I do and going up to the next level is something that will cost me dearly and won't be a leap I can do anytime soon.
I dislike Behringer because they freeload from other more talented and hardworking companies' R & D. The Guitar and Keyboard centre here in Brighton UK don't even stock much of the Behringer gear offered on their website in their physical store due to many of the products having terrible build quality, which results for them in too many returns.
You would save a bit of face if you just admitted that your comments on FF were a bit off the mark.
I don't think that it's actually possible for anyone, yourself included, to never be wrong and never to have made a comment that was perhaps just a bit unwarranted. In fact, it is almost an inevitability for someone who has made over 10,000 of them here over the years.
Cheers
Scorb

Post that separately in the hardware section and I might comment on it in public.djscorb wrote:>snip - comments on Behringer gear and reasons why I "should" upgrade - snip <
Everything else is OT and continuing the "Behringer gear sucks - you could do better" drama.
Also see my last post (the edit), which hints at that exact same thing.
