Right now I'm trying to learn "wavelab elements" in between posting (or vis-versa) but since this pops up under "my posts" I always take a peek and seem to always have something to say....sorry bout that.

Thank you.fmr wrote: Gearslutz has a very enlightening thread about this dicotomy, and they concluded pretty much that "bus" is the correct spelling, and "buss" was a mispelling that strated in the 50s and came along in the audio engineering circles, but is now being abandoned, because it's incorrect.
That's all I was trying to say.
Somebody once made a mistake, and others started to repeat it, until people started to think it is the correct term.
Like egbert, wo claimed that "buss" is the original spelling, and bus would be an "abbreviation", and then advising to "get more of a grasp of this sort of thing before you lecture others".
Sorry to say but this is pure nonsense. Of course clearly stated with a lot of confidence, like most of the nonsense in the world.
But enough said on this topic.

But to your point, if people actually enjoy that (?), getting excited and then being unnecessarily disappointed ... it's not really my place to interrupt that... so sorry.
No more comments from me here about (my personal opinion of) S1 releases. No more drama.

Here is the thread over at Gearslutz:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much- ... arned.html
The "conclusion" reached doesn't seem to be quite as FMR presented it. In fact the debate is still going on. I think we can agree that the root is omnibus and that the application of this term is about distribution of signal or power. That the "ss" spelling was applied at some point is obvious. Why, there is no clear answer. There are guesses. That spelling did become the dominant one - at least in some areas. The "s" spelling remains and is more common if you go by Google refs. They are alternatives. Neither is wrong. It was never correct to say - as Novalis did - that there is no such word as the "ss" spelling. QED.

Back on Studio One v3. Presonus bought (the scoring package) Notion and I would expect score editing to make it into Studio One at some stage - maybe v3.0.
The console scheme in the video of the touch screen is very possibly a pointer to what we can expect from the console in Studio One.

Surely it will be a pay for add on if they do, except perhaps in the Prof versionegbert wrote:Back on Studio One v3. Presonus bought (the scoring package) Notion and I would expect score editing to make it into Studio One at some stage - maybe v3.0.

If you are used to reading notation, editing MIDI using the score editor is in some ways easier than the other editing options. I used it all the time in Logic PC back before Steve happened. I would really like a clear easy to use score editor in Studio One.hibidy wrote:TBH, I'm not sure that studio one will ever integrate the two.
Though I understand the staff and notation, I never use it. I'm not steve vai or sabastian bach.
If you want to print out a part eg for horn parts or keyboard - then you have the standard notation at your finger tips. When it comes to horns and string parts you want to be able to transpose or change clefs and a decent score editor makes that happen in a few clicks.

Notion is a pretty economical scoring package. Notion 5 has some new elements that have come from Presonus code so I expect the reverse to also apply. The developers worked on Nuendo so they came from a package with full scoring and I imagine that they intend their own package to be as complete in time.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Surely it will be a pay for add on if they do, except perhaps in the Prof versionegbert wrote:Back on Studio One v3. There is already stratification in the Studio One marketing scheme with the full version being top price and then some lesser featured versions at lower points. If V3 gets scoring, it might be something that is full featured in the top version or only found in the top version. As Studio One gets more complete its pricing model may change.
These sorts of programs were 1000 bucks before they even handled Audio - Notator was very pricey back in the Atari days. The $199 pricing of Logic by Mr J - with all the instruments and effects bundled - kind of kicked all of that for a loop. The market is much bigger nowadays of course with audio hardware being cheap and available everywhere and the enormous installed base of PCs and now other formats means there are vast numbers of punters to sell to - if the price is not too exorbitant. Reaper is cheap and capable so there is a limit to what a comparable product can sell for. Adding features that Reaper lacks - like scoring - would help justify higher pricing.
Then again, Presonus is the owner. They might be prepared to run Studio One at an economical price because they are hoping to make their bucks on the hardware side.
