I`m surprised how many ppl in this post are stuck on Simmons and Kiss.
The OP is asking whether Simmon`s statement that "rock is finally dead?" is true.
The subject is not about Simmons, it`s about the rock genre!
I should ask the question: "Is intelligence finally dead?".

Personally I liked the first few albums they did, even if they were derivative of what was going on in the UK at the time (I'm pretty sure they admitted it a few times). After that, there was very little that they did to move rock music forward - hell, their biggest hits were orchestral or disco music...

Ahh, thank you, my friend! :tu:

Rock and roll rebellion kids! Just not so far that you don't obediently pay for your digital downloads, please.

Why is it the already-rich already-famous rockers who seem particularly bad for this? Lars Ulrich, Peter Townsend... I guess some may see it see it as trying to stick up for the viability of being a professional band, but we just aren't there any more. It's not just downloading, it's having an audience that has a good chunk of the modern music ever put to record accessible at a few clicks, an audience for whose time you are competing against a massive, constant wash of media of all kinds.

If the OP didnt want a discussion about Simmons, why is his name in the title? Why bother linking to the interview? The OP could have easily asked the question, with no link, and no name dropping in the title, then if the conversation moved to some old fcuk no one cares about, i could see your point being valid.

I wish the OP did that, cause everytime i come across this thread, i think of Simons hairy fat belly popping out of spandex, and i die a little on the inside.

Simmons asks rhetorically: "Don`t kill me...i`m just the messenger?"

He is speaking as if money = rock n roll. Maybe in his world it does, in mine it doesnt. Porn industry isnt making money now either, does that mean that fornicating is dead? The worlds economy sucks, people arent shelling out money as easily nowadays.

You happen to see what the new fashion trends are? Normcore? Now to be fashionable, you will need to look like the poor shopping at kmart, but you must pay 40x the price, so you can be fashionable about it. Frankly, i think the normcore trend is so the uber rich can blend in with the poor, so they arent targetted during the revolution. :)

Interesting post xNiMiNx... Very interesting...

I was listening to Jack White's Lazaretto as I encountered this thread. The juxtaposition made me giggle. No, rock is not dead.

It may not rule the roost anymore, but it's still coming out. Good stuff, even.

Even if it wasn't, there are more great albums out there than any of us will ever hear in our lifetime.
