This isn't finished at all, but I'd like to get some opinions on the production, verse-chorus songform, and general vibe so far. Does it seem to be interesting enough with just the two parts? I had a chance to work on it some tonight and felt like it was starting to sound like what I intended.

In the final, Markleford will be adding some real horn melodies here and there, and I'll be tweaking out the bass some more for sure. I figure the melodies will really bring it together more...

As always Shane very good sound (maybe warm it up a little) the production could use some sort of lead break somewhere about 2/3 the way through and the end is a little abrupt but overall this is a fine tune. Really like the Electric piano sound, what did you use? 8)

I like that thing you just posted, too. It really has a mood.

Concerning my tune, thanks. Yes, it does seriously need melodic breaks. The ending on the final will vamp out into an abstract thing as another similar piece ramps up. My goal is to create a whole side of a record with this kind of stuff but with some weirdness between tracks keeping it a continuous experience.

The EP is LoungeLizard for the most part. I did use another little EP sample set for some layering in spots.

Sounds like a good idea, morphing into some sort of offbeat section should have a nice segue into the next piece. Lounge Lizard sounds so real I almost thought maybe it was a real el piano like a rhodes or something. can't wait to hear how you finish this. Keep my eyes open for it then. 8)

Thanks concerning my piece, was trying to get an upbeat mood going. :D

Ohhhhh and I love Markleford's brass... so I too cannot wait to hear it finished.

I love the lazy and relaxed feel this allready is giving me and the only thing I'd like to address really is to keep a close eye on the dynamics, adding some quieter moments in the form of a brass break. And perhaps a bit more EP :D

Like the sound, hope you don't mind honest direct opinions.
I got bored at 2:10, something should happen IMHO.
Would also suggest a key change at 2:53, one tone up, I know it is a bit difficult with horns, but should work out:)

A horn solo where something really happens at some point would maybe create some more excitement, this sounds a bit like a leashed dog, you should let it go at some point...

This track has been updated somewhat - same filename as before. I agree that it needs a boost, and that's what the horns from Markleford will do, hopefully.

I worked on small things here and added some breaks and air to things in certain spots.

If anyone is interested in adding solos of any kind, feel free to submit something as I am not opposed to making various versions of the track or an extended version.

Key is Bb minor, tempo is 69.
