Did people actually think (honestly? for real? seriously?) that they'd... just ... stopped working on the product? :hihi: Really? And feel better now that someone official said so instead of saying ...

"No, we're not going to make a version 3 of it ever... we'll just gonna stop right here and fire the developers." :hihi:

Well they've been very quiet and will the recent rumours you just don't know what to think. So it's good to hear it from someone official

Yeah, I guess. I mean, the guy who said that other incorrect thing about 'end of summer' was official. He told everyone way, way back months ago that they were already working on the next version and he was going by while in Germany to have a look, he just (apparently) kinda mis-communicated the actual timeline for release. (or just made a terrible guess :hihi:)

Anyway, as to this below...
They've obviously followed forums like these and noted down all the features that people are most vocal about,
I have it on very good authority that in order to better serve their actual users and reduce the relative noise about all that stuff, that feature requests made on their forum from registered users are the ones they really pay the most attention to, not so much here on KVR, Facebook, or Gearslutz or similar from people who they can't even tell have ever been customers or ever will be, so if you have an FR, that would be the best place to go. Or if not a registered user, their pre-sales forum I guess.

Makes sense, to take care of your actual customers first and not so much fight the daw war and/or give too much credence to the opinions of some who may even be illegally using your product. Obviously, there is always a good bit of overlap there, registered users asking for some of the same things.

That ^^^ only means the S1 dev team, not PreSonus the entire company.

I figured they were making it......I just think it's going to be a while before we see it.

Remember, bitwig, ST3, and R4 all actually eventually got released! There is hope for us (but not until next year :( )

I want it out earlier but im like 80% convinced they'll announce it at NAMM

Post

Mmmmmmm, probably after. If you can believe it, it's been 3 1/2 years since they released 2. What they did was sell "artist" one for 20.11 at namm and then a while after namm they announced/released 2. It's not scientific, but it's the best shot I have.

Post

Version 2 came out just after Reaper 4, October 2011 I think, so that's 3 years exactly next month I think, if that date is correct.

2.5 was a huge update so the 3 year span maybe isn't quite as literal as it looks on paper, I haven't done the math again but I think it's been about 18-20 months since the last big update. I'd have to look up the 2.5 release date to be sure though.

It's been awhile for sure, too long in the view of many, but in fairness we should probably be accurate with the timeline. There was a guy in the forum some time back shouting "4 years", which was obviously kinda not true by any stretch.

Post

I'm close enough. I do remember the 20.11 artist sale which was namm 2011....I thought it was soon after that. Maybe just the announcement? Anyways, it's not going to be before namm more than likely. Time to dust off that 2.6.3 and get busy with it......it's what you have :hihi:

Post

It was October 2011, 2.0, not quite 3 years. That 20.11 sale might have been summer Namm that year, no idea.

The next big update was 2.5, December 2012. http://www.presonus.com/news/press_rele ... ease-Notes

2.6 was a pretty nice update, August 2013, a year ago. And here we are a year later at 2.6.3, waiting for whatever comes next. But yeah, if you go all the way back to 2.0, it's been a long time but they've added some really good new stuff since then.

Keep hope alive. :hihi:

Yeah, but this reply was written by the cleaner guy from the troll teaser video, during one of his night shifts. :hihi:

One thing for sure, whenever it does release it's gonna be fun to watch and read on KVR. :hihi:

I could almost write that thread now, some parts of it anyway.

"No Flux Capacitor?!?! Pathetic." :hihi:

I would not change much on it, because I think the concept of a small controller which you can place right next to your keyboard is great.

I would prefer soft rubber type buttons instead of the plastic ones it has know - they would feel better, and be more or less silent.
The knobs on the FP are really loud when you press them.

My other wish is the inclusion of an "AI knob", which some of the Cubase controllers have.
You can put the mouse cursor over any knob (be it in S1 or in a plug-in), and you can immediately control it with the knob on the controller. Now that is a great concept.
Wanna control another knob, just move the mouse cursor over to it.
Doesn't get any simpler and more practical than that.
An AI knob would be excellent, the first time I saw something like that was on the Novation Nocturn and immediately wondered why it wasn't in more products.

Softer buttons would be nice too, and my other big feature request for a new Faderport would be a non-notched pan knob. The notching really limits its ability to be a smooth control knob imo.

Other than that it's fantastic. I've had 8-fader mixers before and I would never go back, I find it much easier having one fader that automatically maps to whatever track I'm on than it is counting faders and tracks trying to figure out which one I should move.

Good luck with your feature request for S1-3
