Agreed.

And we'd see fewer DIY-Lawyer-posts at KVR too ;)

In the meantime... Has anyone managed to get the Grey skin on x64 (Win 8.1)?

Again, what's the problem?
z.prime seems to think otherwise.
z.prime has no authority at all to allow or forbid anything. He is a user. Period.

Now, Drew, read with attention the answer of the developer to the question "- I don't like the GUI color. Can I replace the GUI skin?" in the chapter "F.A.Q." of his original post:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 6#p4616636

What does he answer? This:
"Yes, you may use a Resource Editor to replace the image in the DLL. I even allow you to share your hacked DLL as long as you distribute it along with the original readme/license files and a clear note that this is not the original version and point people to the place where they can find the original."
So, Drew, you are absolutely quiet. z.prime has not to forbid you and not even to dissuade you. The developer wrote "Yes, you can!". Period!

Conclusion: if you follow my post here you are in the total right.

It would be a shame to not share your very nice GUIs simply because there is someone without any authority who dares to pretend the contrary of what wrote the developer himself!

Remember what z wrote?
z.prime wrote: It seems as though you should not be redistributing modified versions of the software (or technically modifying at all). I don't know for sure if the developer minds,
I for one was outraged at his audacity and had to breathe into a paper bag for five minutes.

I shall try this again then.
Charlatan variations zip (all 32bit) Contains 10 different colour themes.

I have also included the png for those who wish to modify their 64bit version.

Download Link
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1cedx1w8si0b0 ... s.zip?dl=0

Included in the zip is the original licence / read me file from the developer and a read me file from myself stating that these are modified .dll's plus the developers website address is also provided. As instructed on page #1 of this thread and by other members on here.

Enjoy.

I couldn't give two of the Queen's ten teats what colour it is as long as it's readable and carries on sounding good.
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

Maybe it's time to finish my yellow skin...

Drew I'm glad to see that you have found a solution to the "problem". It's obvious that the community supports and appreciates your work, and you seem to enjoy what you are doing. Thank you for your efforts, and thanks to all who assisted you with the legalities.

:tu:  Many thanks for the support, I do the skins for fun, but I also like to share what I do :)
Two new creations, not exact replica's but good enough.

As before, licence and the correct read me files are included.

Enjoy.

I start to think about we need an awesome single and simple web page hosting all these variations in a permanent way, and available to be frely downloaded, like a Charlatan gallery , with a kind of uploading option, where each one that in the whole world will do a skin variation can upload a printscreen of his version and related download link to let anyone easily download that version, freely. Or simply opening a basci dropbox account just for this purpose, already the basic 5 giga can host trillions of Charlatan skin versions :D
Surely with at the beginning there has to be the original one and all the legal eula and legal info about skinning to state in a clear way that is legal to do that, for anykind of posterity needs....bla bla bla... and links to the one and only original Charlatan and specifying the developer that did it and needed links, and so forth.
I guess can become a kinda craziness, like it has become during these years Synth1 for the presets, Charlatan, beside being surely sonically good and very nice to use, can become the most skinned vst in the history :D..
Maybe it's a weird idea but could be cool.

I can do it in the next days without any problem. A real webpage with thumbnails, and when you click a thumbnail you load the related zip file. A kind of "gallery" with zip as targets.
All that in my Free.fr website where I already host Abstractor and when I'm currently preparing a new webpage for MinimogueVA for Gunnar who has a severe issue with his own website (the only reason why MinimogueVA disappeared a few months ago).

For me there is no problem to make a "Gallery of GUI's for Charlatan" allowing to load the zip files.

Yes, why not.

That site hosts dll's instead of the picture files. Probably not an issue for some (as with Charlatan) but for others it will be an issue (Sylenth to name one).
No to mention the increased risk to get crapware on your system ;)

I do like the initiative tho.
