I did a screencast / tutorial / video chat / that I will upload to youtube tomorrow showing a few basic uses of The Drop including: envelope following (auto wah), stereo pad swirling type filtering, and midi triggering / key track on a bass sound.Kaboom75 wrote:We getting the new version in VST tomorrow?

I've watched this little beastie grow over a couple of years now, and bought it on beta. It will be worth the wait.andy-cytomic wrote:This morning I recorded a "rambling rundown" of The Drop v1 as a 40 minute single take screencast, I'll do some minor edits (show / hide my face / push and do some zooms) and upload it tomorrow. Gareth Green (who did the presets for The Glue) has finished the first the first bank of factory presets which will hopefully make it into Friday's release. Half are modulation and half are production, and Gareth really knows his stuff and also gives them great names, so these should be excellent starting points for further exploration.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Just to steer the conversation back off the topic of C/P schemes and back to the plugin itself:
Will the Oct 3rd release include presets and the planned video tutorials? I can be insanely dense when it comes to anything other than simple LFO modulation, so it'd be nice to get some presets doing cool things and an in-depth tutorial video on how to get the most of the modulation system.
I can't think of another filter that will even be half as good.

I've used Filterfreak 1 and 2 for three years it's easier for people to use and more dirty in a good way.
The Drop is in another world better sound more transparent more character more control. I can't see myself using Filterfreak anymore.

FF was pretty decent, used it quite a bit too. Nice and easy, as you said.Kaboom75 wrote:I've used Filterfreak 1 and 2 for three years it's easier for people to use and more dirty in a good way.

But it's going to be gathering virtual dust for me as well.

I just bought this, how do you get it to show the central waveform view and things like the step sequencer?andy-cytomic wrote:I've almost got the windows build complete, as soon as it is I'll make announce the release date. It is now a matter of weeks people!
Oh I see - the download version is not the same

That version of The Drop comes out on 3rd Oct 8pm GMT, if you have bought The Drop.aMUSEd wrote:andy-cytomic wrote:I've almost got the windows build complete, as soon as it is I'll make announce the release date. It is now a matter of weeks people!

Great vid!
A thought crossed my mind, so a question for Andy -- with all the clever modulation circuits inside the Drop, when I use it statically, does the modulation still work? I mean, I started to use more and more of the drop on various sources, like adding oomph to a kick, or controlling low end on guitars, etc etc. For that I don't use any modulation and I won't to keep CPU at lowest possible use. So does Drop only calculate filters when no modulation is used?

You can see in the screen shots above that the modulation sources have their own On/Off switches near their settings that are on when glowing blue and grey when off. Turning them off when not in use does indeed give you CPU savings.meloco_go wrote:with all the clever modulation circuits inside the Drop, when I use it statically, does the modulation still work?

And since this bad boy and all the backend work seems to be almost tied up: I'd just like to make a suggestion on the future stomp box distortion modeling you mentioned.
ProCo Rat!!!
Never heard a plug that even comes close to that sound and I would love to hear what Drop style circuit modeling could do to get that original Motorola LM308 vibe. Throw in the "Mightier Mouse" mod 3-way switch on the clipping and "Ruetz" resistor mod switching for the bass response and I would be in heaven.
I'm guessing circuit modeling could also finally recreate the "great" sound you get from this and and other pedals by "power starving" them with a nearly dead battery as well?
Now I'm going to make some soup to eat while I watch the new Drop video. so my drooling won't be so obvious… ;o)

Andy this is fantastic! I will need to go through the video a few more times to get all of the info, but the sound and features are more than I could have hoped for. I cannot wait to start experimenting with The Drop. Thank you so much!
