If you're using VSTGUI, you might want to take a look at my code from porting ModulR's building blocks - I had to make some of my own widgets because VSTGUI doesn't come with gauges and stuff as standard. I'm actually in the process of writing a library of widgets for VSTGUI which do away with the need for a CBitmap. Here's a list (some of these are included in the mac building blocks zip, the ones I've already finished are marked with a *):
  • - CSimpleFrame *
    - CSimpleGaugeSlider *
    - CSimpleParamDisplay * (update?)
    - CSimpleSlider
    - CSimpleTickBox
    - CSimpleRadioButtons
    - CSimpleButton
    - CSimpleBigButton
    - CSimpleWaveDisplay
    - CSimpleFileSelector * (?)
    - CSimpleAboutBox
    - CSimpleLabel *
    - CSimpleComboBox *
    - CSimpleADSR
    - CSimpleTitle *
    - CSimpleLamp *
    - CSimpleKeyboard * (keyboard base class - just draws the keys)
    - CSimpleKeyboardSlider *
    - CSimpleKeyboardSliderBP *
    - CSimpleKeyboardSwitch *
    - CSimpleGaugeSliderBP * (BP = bi-polar)
    - CSimpleTextButton * (displays text which changes when you click it)
If they'll be any help, you're welcome to use them (I'm planning to post them at the vst source code archive when they're all finished anyway).

Your life kind of echoes mine - only I went to university and then quit, so I never actually got the degree. :(

And to make things worse, my granny is insisting I do the whole ceremony and gown thing! She wants to be proud of me but frankly I find it all embarasing. I'll just get minging and pretend i've got first class honours.

Hey, if Jobs can get a proper database driven file system out before Longwait (finally) ships, I'll be laughing so hard I might even buy a mac. :o

I think my favorite part of that video was "Windows media, Bring it on!!".

Anyways you should just go for the Mac man. By the time Longhorn comes out we'll be using Tracktion 4.5 probably :-o :D . I just hope it doesnt have too many unnecessary animations and useless eye candy. I get tired of that stuff 5 minutes after I see it. It just gets in the way.

PS: If you do get a Mac go for the dual 30" display :o. You'll need about $11k including the Mac but damn those look insane. You could watch some serious porn on that thing.

Longhorn is going to be *all* about useless eyecandy if the video card requirements are any indication. :(

Windows2000 is starting to look like my last safe harbour... :( At least until Linux starts to get it together.
