Unfortunately, with the new C/R I won't even demo it, so no purchase from me. I got nothing against C/R coming from big companies like iZotope, NI or Ableton. But from a one-man company it's a completely different story.

Although it sounds a bit radical... I have to admit that I also have a bad feeling about the new copyright scheme. I wonder if someone else can help customers out with that authorization stuff if Andy is not available for whatever reason.

The new system has been in use for around 2 months now with lots of different people on lots of different computers, and I've not had even a single bug report or issue the entire time, not even one. Everyone has been able to auth on the first attempt and has had no downtime at all with the new version (and there have also been no crashes reports the entire time either).

As the new system is rolled out I'll keep a close eye on how things are going, and be super quick to reply if there are any issues (that is why I am rolling it out midday my time). If there are any issues it only takes a minute to download the old version and copy it over the top and you're back up and running, so it isn't possible to have downtime where you can't load your existing projects with The Drop.

Hi Andy i don't think that is their concern.

I think a lot of people are making a big deal over something that's not a big deal here...

It's not like Andy has to be seated at his computer, clicking an "accept" button, authorizing each auth request that comes in.

That assurance is more than good enough for me. I'll bet 99% of your paying customers will be thrilled to use The Drop regardless of the copy protection you choose to use.

@imnotdedyet: Nope, but there is an auth server that needs maintenence (every server does) and I wonder what happens if Andy is not available to do it. Shit happens all the time and the question is, are there others guys that could keep the ball rolling in such a case.

This has already been covered.

I have no issues whatsoever with C/R, I'm for example a happy NI user, I only fear the worst case scenarios that come with small companies and C/R. Since I already bought the Drop over a year ago and don't want to miss it anymore, I guess I will live with that, though I don't have to like it :D

I really cannot see what the problem is.
I have no problem with the new system,

I can clearly see what the problem is but I'd trust Andy more than I'd ever trust MAGIX.

Sometimes the little guy outperforms the fat cats.

It's in no way an ideal system but it could be worse.

The only thing that can end The Drop running on your computer is:-

A meteor hits Andy resulting in after a few years later you cant auth your plugin. Also following that he wont be around to update The Drop to work on Windows 120 or add 512bit anyway.

I've been through the worse case scenario with CR and the company involved was sensible about it and I was able to continue using the software. Andy says he will help us out with worse case scenarios so they are nothing to worry about.

Some of us probably already have CR protected plugins and don't even know it.

He's not changing it so lets all move on to what we think of The Drop features and sound.

+1 :tu:

I for one can't wait to test the Drop when it gets released. I imagine it will be the only VA filter i'll need for a long time.
