Nora Jones' voice does more than just send a few gouse pimples for me. She is babe Numero Uno.

I agree about Eva too.

Also, when i was a kid i fell in love with Lynda Carpenter's voice.

the moments when the music really moves you are really precious.

nobody in particular, it depends...
a matter of mood, when some words, some melody or some chords meet your current feelings, your deepest needs.

but i must say, most of the time the music (or the singing) moves me when it is performed live. dunno why. there is something really special with music that doesn't pass through the recordings and speakers... the 'vibes'?

1/ Judy Tzuke > 'Stay With Me Till Dawn'
Well, I'm not ashamed to admit that this track 'still' brings a tear to my eye.

2/ Etta James > 'I'd Rather go Blind'
THE version, bar none. Fabulous singer and never better than this track.

3/ Not sure which of the Indigo Girls does this solo track but 'Blood and Fire' has the most emotion packed vocals I've heard yet.

On a broader note, Sandy Denny's voice does it for me, pretty much any song....and not this also applies to the divine Liz Fraser.

Neil Young and Julian Cope usually. But for some reason Embrace causes me to burst into tears.
Embrace seem to touch a nerve with the ballads they do. I suppose it's because of the subject matter and the fact that I miss my girlfriend (She's 8000km away and I won't see her until march)
The Cure can upset me as well.

Lush always makes me melancholy...but it's partly because their demise is such a sad story...wasted potential and such.

...but I'm a sucker for (early) Rod Stewart. Anything off of "Every picture Tells A Story" will do it, from the exuberance of the title track to the wistful yearning of Mandolin Wind and, yes, Maggie May...
