The Drop

Post

Thanks to everyone for hanging in there waiting for The Drop to be finished, and for those still waiting to use the new version it won't be much longer. This has been a stupendously difficult plugin to write, way harder than I originally thought it was going to be which is why it took so long.

It is great to finally be able to release it for everyone to play with, and it is great to hear everyones overwhelmingly positive feedback on the sound of the plugin and the gui! Enjoy and thanks for supporting Cytomic, every purchase matters and helps so I can keep writing plugins like this (but hopefully quicker!) :tu:

Also no problems with authorization here. Name displayed is switched to username instead of full name but it in the about screen so who cares :P

The filters are awesome and I really love the display of envelopes/lfo's. Job well done!

Andy,

First of all huge congratulations on getting to V1.xxx
You must be very proud to get there at last.
It has been incredible following your development saga for the last 3 years.

Your dedication to your vision and standards has been something to behold.
The way you have dealt with all of the user issues & minor tantrums has been impeccable.
How on earth you repeatedly kept your cool in the face of complaints & criticism after weeks of hard work (the C/R complaints...) Jeez, I'd have lost patience long ago.

I've been using your beta since you released it in virtually every project, everything from a simple bass boost to crazy modulations. It's magnificent!
Very excited to start using the new filter models & features - at work now :(

Can't imagine how you much you must be buzzing to be finally letting it loose!

If anyone in this thread still hasn't bought The Drop do yourself and Andy a favour....

No issues with authorization here either.

See you on the other side... about to dive in! [ EDIT: Wow! :D ]

Congrats Andy :)

^ What he said! :tu:

The benefit of a long development curve is that you've had the opportunity to evaluate and re-evaluate the many options available in a plugin like this, and it really shows. I actually don't have much to suggest at this point! The only thing that comes to mind is phase inversion at the output mix of either the main or processed signal.

Congratulations and break out the cigars! :D

WTF Jaw hits floor !!!!!!

Working here Andy no auth probs, what kind of devil magic did you use to get this so CPU efficient now. The best just got better by a huge amount, well done, very proud to be a supporter from the beginning.

Are there presets in the download ? Doh , found them :D

the sound of this plugin is absolutely insane & a joy to use, thanks for all the hard work.

So, a new version for me (btw, turns out I'm a member for 5 years and 3 weeks =))!
All smooth!
The CPU usage is dramatically lower on 1.0.4 then on 9.18, I can use SHR HD LP/HP (although without modulation) at x8 OS in realtime!

In the original Drop there was a "Step Freq" option that I used often to do sudden automation changes with the cutoff. I can't seem to find this function on the new one - where did it go?

*** edit I think I found it - is it the off section above the "mode" ?

I purchased The Drop a while ago and have been lurking on here since then… so here's my first KVR post to say congrats and thank you to Andy! This is a phenomenal filter plugin. The CPU cost is now much lower, the new resizable GUI with visual feedback is fantastic, the modulation possibilities are inspiring, and above all, the filter models sound gorgeous.

One question: I'm curious to hear your thoughts on a toggle option for serial versus parallel routing of the input signal through the HP and LP filters. Would it be problematic to implement, having optimized the plugin for serial routing? Were there design considerations that led you to rule it out? Of course this is something I can set up in my DAW with two instances of The Drop, but it would be fun to have parallel routing at my fingertips with all the modulation parameters in one place.

Again, amazing work, and thanks!

Congratulations to Andy for a fantastic release.

Playing around with it I'm stunned how good it sounds, it's absolutely f**king amazing. On top of that a great user interface and not even slightly CPU hungry.
