Congratulations with this new version Andy! It was worth the wait!!!
The optimisations are awesome. Its so easy on the cpu, great you pulled that off.
The GUI is superb and the timing is splendid. I am so glad you released in on (thank god its) friday ;-)
I've go the whole weekend to play with this great tool/plugin!

btw: I think I hear that this new version is a lot smoother with the same settings and keeps the stereo information better in place/tact. Did you improve this behaviour?

If not, its something different, but its awesome.

Filter used:
MS2HD in the new 1.0.4 &
SallenKey MS2 in the 0.9.18 with same settings.

Not had much practice with it yet had to sleep. I put ACE synth on with the default preset left it at that then added The Drop and after some messing about with knobs and buttons ended up with a sound that sounded exactly like a Huey helicopter. A huey did a fly by at Blackpool airshow a couple of years ago. Really gob smacked that The Drop can do that sound and bass to such a basic waveform. Anyone heard a Huey in person knows what sound I'm talking about. I wish I had saved the preset now :/ I wish all my synths had that amount of control in the LFOs

Probably the same number of people who know what an Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter sounds like.

2 questions (sorry if I don't read 146 pages of posts):

1) Why it is still written the drop-beta- on the site??

2) Any price reduction for registered glue owner?

----many thanx Andy and...congratulations!!----

Probably because it's the first finished version for the masses to try.

I made a test-project with the latest 0.9x Drop and set all knobs to 10 o'clock, hp + lp to Ms2 and 4 poles activated.

Not a single setting was recalled when I opened the project with the new plugin.

win7 64 Bit , Cubase 64 Bit 7.5.3

Other than that this update is huge. Awesome GUI, options and a huge drop in CPU usage. Congrats on this big effort.

Can't seem to trigger the env with midi if i load keys organ dirty grime preset then change the env input to midi. It doesn't except midi input. changing this back to a default preset & it works.

1) It is a beta to show that it is a very new build that requires more "in the wild" testing before it is appropriate to use in a production setting where possibly lurking bugs could cause crashes. A production setting would be using it for a DJ set in front of tens of thousands of people, or in front of clients that are paying by the hour and any possibility of a crash is not acceptable. I am very happy with how solid it is, and once I fix bugs that have been reported, then release that build as a beta, then no more bugs are reported on that build for a few weeks, then I'll remove the beta tag. This is how it should be with all software so that customers are aware of the risks and can make appropriate choices.

2) Yes, there is a 30% discount which shows up at the final checkout page if you are logged in :tu:

toby wrote:In the original Drop there was a "Step Freq" option that I used often to do sudden automation changes with the cutoff. I can't seem to find this function on the new one - where did it go?

*** edit I think I found it - is it the off section above the "mode" ?
Yep, I've renamed this feature to "Glide", so you can either set the time to 0 mS or the mode to Off and the filter will jump without any smoothing - which is equivalent to the "Step Freq = on" option from the earlier version.

There are some subtle changes in the drive levels, but yes overall it should sound slightly "more analog" ie smoother and handles large drive better. With my automated circuit solver I could more easily play around with how the equations are solved and generate a more stable and quicker to converge model. I also improved all the non-linear function approximations to be smoother as well as lower cpu. There is a phenomenal amount of tech under the hood of this beast in almost every part of the plugin!

N.30 wrote:*update* was a windows firewall issue(all good) Anyone else unable to Authorise after updating from v0.9.18? I'm getting 'challenge failed'
Thanks for the update. In case anyone missed it Neo said the auth was being blocked by the windows firewall, once he allowed The Drop to connect to the internet the authorisation worked fine. So hundreds of auths on not a single problem apart from when a firewall blocks the connection. I'll research into how best to handle firewalls in the future, hopefully I can detect this somehow and at least let the user know more useful information on how to work around the problem.

How about a simple footnote with the installer/auther to remind people to check?

I haven't installed the new version or tried to authorise it yet, so maybe that wouldn't be practical at all.
