I haven't installed the new version or tried to authorise it yet, so maybe that wouldn't be practical at all.

I already pop up a dialogue box to say that the auth didn't work, I'll add to the error message to give some suggestions of what to try to fix the problem. Even better would be to work out a firewall is blocking the connection and somehow ask Windows to prompt the user for a one off exception to the block.

When I save a preset, I notice that the oversampling settings reset immediately. Each time I load a preset, the oversampling settings are again reset. I assume this is not intentional?

GUI reminds me of Alien 1979 equipment a bit. I like it.

Yes everyone can thank my wife Emma as well since I've not been able to help out as much as I usually do, and she's still had to do all the accounts and tax as well as everything else to keep our family running while I've been doing long hours in the studio finishing The Drop. It's nice to be able to relax for a little bit before the next chunk of work, it has been a very long slog.

Great, thanks for spotting that about the resampling. Someone also suggested adding the ability to lock the current resampler settings which is a great idea as well. I'll sort it out both for the next release.

If not, its something different, but its awesome.

Filter used:
MS2HD in the new 1.0.4 &
SallenKey MS2 in the 0.9.18 with same settings.
There are some subtle changes in the drive levels, but yes overall it should sound slightly "more analog" ie smoother and handles large drive better. With my automated circuit solver I could more easily play around with how the equations are solved and generate a more stable and quicker to converge model. I also improved all the non-linear function approximations to be smoother as well as lower cpu. There is a phenomenal amount of tech under the hood of this beast in almost every part of the plugin!

I forgot to mention the fact at my end about the authorisation of the plugin. This went very smooth on my first machine.

I wish the filter names were a bit more descriptive = prefer it if they said sallen, ladder etc

1) It is a beta to show that it is a very new build that requires more "in the wild" testing before it is appropriate to use in a production setting where possibly lurking bugs could cause crashes. A production setting would be using it for a DJ set in front of tens of thousands of people, or in front of clients that are paying by the hour and any possibility of a crash is not acceptable. I am very happy with how solid it is, and once I fix bugs that have been reported, then release that build as a beta, then no more bugs are reported on that build for a few weeks, then I'll remove the beta tag. This is how it should be with all software so that customers are aware of the risks and can make appropriate choices.

It's just new so you're not used to it yet. I actually prefer this, if forces you to listen to the tone of the filter and choose the best one for the context rather than chose by any pre-conceptions about which filter should be best.

Andy, is there any way to scroll through the filter types without having to open the menu (similar to the last/next buttons for the presets)?

As I sit here trying to audition between the differences in each filter circuit having to open the sub-menu isn't the best workflow experience. A set of Last/Next buttons would be ideal, particularly if they're MIDI learn-able.

Ideally, I think I'd like to see the Filter Circuit selection moved right below where the HP/LP buttons currently are, then have MIDI learn-able backwards and forwards buttons below the Filter Circuit. There's room for it, and it makes logical sense in terms of the GUI paradigm. By "logical sense" I mean it takes the Filter Circuit selection out of the visualizer and into the control layout for each filter type.

So it would like something like this (from top to bottom):

HP or LP on/off button
Filter Circuit (dropdown menu)
Backwards/Forwards buttons for circuit (with ability MIDI Learn)
4-Pole button

The reason I'd prefer this to simple mousewheel control is that it allows your to MIDI learn the Filter Circuit type and gets my hands off the mouse entirely. Right now, there doesn't appear to be a way to MIDI control the Filter Circuit.

It would also allow me to make a great TouchOSC layout for The Drop with all the controls.

Last post for a while: I just had a weird experience with the step sequencer (i.e. potential bug) but couldn't reproduce it after changing presets and trying to recreate the problem.

In short: To adjust step 1 on the visualizer, I'd have to click and drag my mouse cursor over step 2. To adjust step 3, I'd have to move step 4. To adjust step 8, I'd have to move step 1.

I loaded a new preset then went back to the one that first exhibited this problem and couldn't reproduce the issue. This was on Windows 7 x64, with Studio One 2.6.3 x64, using a Microsoft [optical] mouse.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?
