Hmmm yes, but I'm confused what it will be. I'm sure it will be an upgrade of XILS 3 LE but it's rather confusing to me because of the (dot)2 in the name. An upgrade would logically be a v4, but why would it be 4.2, when there has not been a 4.0 yet But 3.2 does not make much sense either because it would 'just' be an update to v3

So I guessed both to spread my chances, because I really need to win I think I'll go for 4.2 though

Unfortunately I'm not able to invest much money on new gear in the nearby future because my wife is expecting a 2nd baby and we need to buy lots of new stuff for house rebuilding and baby stuff, so I grab this little oppertunity with both hands

It's the Xils 3.2 LE

So : Same pristine, and acclaimed by all reviewers as incredibly authentic, audio engine than its big brothers Xils 3.2 and Xils 4. It replaces the old Xils 3 LE, and as everyone has been able to judge based on the audio démos, its a VERY capable modular analog synth.

To me its indeed a Xils 3 LE Version 2.0 ( And maybe more ). But technically, as seen thru a pure programmer eyes, its a dot version, So Xils version 2 ( 3 dot 2 ) LE ( Light edition )

CWYP : Anyway, as for the money, we're well aware that times are tough for everybody. And thats why we're going to release the Xils 3.2 LE with a stunning CWYP ( Choose What you Pay ) option !!! Choose What you Pay is ourtechnical adaptation of the Pay What you Want model ( With a small minimal price ), but this one was difficult to implement on Xils Site. Well I'll announce all the details about this tomorrow. Today lets just celebrate the winners

It was an excellent pleasure to play a nice game for these few days! And it's neat to know that much more persons will have the opportunity to discover the VCS3 and this wonderful emulation! Really a great synth that you'll have in hands!

I have the full editions of the versions 3 and 4, so for me it doesn't matter at all and I don't know what will be the differences between the full edition and the LE edition of the 3.2 but I bet that the essential will be in it to have a blast as soon as you put your fingers on it!

TBH this thread at first made me really excited about a new synth from XILS-lab, with only serial number protection, like Oxium, but it turned out a bit underwhelming for me to see it not a new synth and not even a major version update, just a small version update (as the version renaming implies)

Ahhh well.. back to Oxium them

The Xils 3.2 LE is a free upgrade for all Xils 3 LE owners;

Then in Xils 3 the 3 is not a version number. It was Xils 3 from the first version, probably because it refers to the VCS 3 ( I'll ask Xavier for that, not sure, as I want with Xils at this time ) So Xils 3 is a model.

Then as for me Xils 3 is now in version 2.0, and its a big major update. i'll communicate on this later, but the audio démos sho a bit what it can do, and it can do a lot.

Then in a programmer/coders mind, like Xavier, the name is Xils 3.2, wich means Xils 3 version 2.0, just with another kind of approach or considering characters. before making the game, we had several names, including Xils 3 v2.0 LE, but as we named the full Xils 3 V2.0 .... Xils 3.2 also, the logic required that htis one would be named Xils 3.2 LE. So maybe the error, if there was one, was before. But its just a terminology problem, and anyway, if you already have the LE, its free for you. The main thing is the sound and features. And they are huge. more on this later. Hope its a bit more cleear now.

Thanks very much to Lotuzia for running the competition, I've been debating about trying XILS for some time, so pleased to get an opportunity to finally have a play. (funny thing, I didn't know, prior to this comp that there was a version that didn't required a dongle)

my only fear, is that I wont be able to resist the urge to upgrade to XILS 3 or 4, I be assimilated ?

I do understand your reasening and that of the coders mind (Xavier), but from regular users perspective who see XILS 3 turned into 3.2 I'm afraid most of them might think it's a small update to v3 (like they always thought 3 in the name was v3 because with Xils 4 it looked like v3 changed to v4), which it apperently is not

Id agree with that, when I first heard of Xils 4, I assumed it meant Xils3 was discontinued, and was surprised/confused when I noticed it was still for sale... i was also confused about Xils V+, which I read as Xils 5+ ... perhaps I'm just easily confused!

However, I will say I've suffered the same, as a developer, Ive in the past got myself into all sorts of issues with naming projects,releases and products ... and been told they 'were not logical', its not as easy as it seems.

I think that you unfortunately might be right, or at least partially right, and my take on this was to call it Xils 3 LE V2.0. I'll transmit this to the Xils board.

Xils 3.2 LE now benefits from the same engine than Xils 3 v2.0 : For exemple, now 3rd gen odf non linear filters, polyphonic Cross modulation engine, waveshaping on the 6 oscillators, sequencer behaviour enhanced, complete revamping of the polyphonic VCA engine leading to HUGE dynamics, correcting a lot of small bugs inherent to the more than 440 connexion possibilities in the modular engine, etc etc. A synth like the Xils 3.2 LE represents years of experience, work and development. Its a big update version.

And yes, the Xils 4 is different than the Xils 3 : It's two interacting VCS 3 engines, and the possibilities are so huge that I still have a lot of things to discover on it.
