Hello, my friends

I'm facing a doubt related with a V-I progression in Eb Major.

The voicings are these:

S - F Eb
A - D ?
T - Bb ?
B - Bb Eb

How should I proceed? As you can see, the leading tone can't be resolved to the tonic because the Eb is already doubled (this is not a final cadence so I can't triple it, I think).
Note: The soprano and bass are fixed and can't be changed.

Thank you

Hi, would you be ok with a V7?

If so I'd consider:

F Eb
D Bb
Ab G
Bb Eb

You could resolve that D to an Eb and triple the root but I think the 7 of the V moving to G provides a strong resolution and the addition of the 5th on I fleshes out the chord.

I'm affraid not. :?

Maybe something like:
S: F D Eb
A: D Bb Bb
T: Bb F G
B: Bb Bb Eb
(dunno if there are some things that go against traditional counterpoint... I forgot all the rules)

Thanks for the replies

The problem here is that only two triads can be used, V and I, both in root position. And the soprano and bass are fixed. So, any modification to this is not allowed (seventh chords, passing notes, etc).

Not allowed by who?

Not allowed by who?
By the exercise. If the exercise was give like that, that's because there's a solution.

S - F Eb
A - D ?
T - Bb G
B - Bb Eb

then you can only use G + IV or ii or vi

or use two Gs

why so complicated?

is the V-I a given too, or are you assuming ?

(if it is, I'd triple the Eb, tenor goes to G)
(or if it's final, the alto can go to Bb - iirc :D )

Good resource here, for strict harmony :
