Here's a suggestion for the site... given that KvR is about supporting "open standard" audio plugins, why no support in the database for the most open standards of all - Linux and the LADSPA plugin architecture? (and also VST/Linux).
I know a lot of progress has been made with hosting Windows VSTs on Linux machines, and it may be that this becomes the main way of doing plug-ins on Linux, but it's nice that a truly open (and Free) alternative exists.
Thoughts?

Very good idea Angus! This is the type of architecture www.kvr-vst.com is working to show!
Maybe you can make a LADSPA->VST adapter
The VST->LADSPA already is here

As to me, nobody would really need a LADSPA->VST adapter because there is a way bigger variety of VST plugins than LADSPA. When i tried a JACK/LADSPA audio workstation on linux i couldn't find any characteristic or unique LADSPA plugins. Just standard delays etc.
However, the VST->LADSPA adapter isn't very good,especially when it comes to VSTi.

I'm pretty out of touch with the state of virtual instruments on Linux but it seems like native VST support would be a lot more useful than yet another format.
It would make me very happy if I could run Tracktion + NI Komplete on Linux.

Mr. Freeze posted a pretty big list of VST plugins he tested under Linux... Here is the thread. ...there's also a link to Tim Orford's Linux VST Compatibility Page, where you can find a tutorial to help get you started running VSTs under Linux.

Has anyone else checked out Dyne:Bolic ?? (http://dynebolic.org/) - it's a live CD linux distro configured as a streaming multimedia studio.
It pretty rocks! - in concept and execution.
I think it's on the cover of Linux Format (UK) this month.
Jorgen has hinted at a Linux port for energyXT. I might be able to ditch Windows then!
