I created a sine only WT in serum and imported it into Codex and still get about 6 harmonics up through 20Khz. Perhaps it's a conversion issue related to the morphing tables...

Edit: I get the same harmonics using Codex's built in Sine WT. Must be user error...
Do you have a filter with resonance running?

Bam. +1

They should have waited another few weeks post-Serum to drop this....

That's really interesting. Unison was also (to me) the weakest aspect of Waves Element, which I think is otherwise quite a good little subtractive synth.

EDIT: And yeah, if I manage to make it to that webcast tomorrow, $50 is easily in impulse-buy territory.

somebody is going to have some more arpreggiated goodness!!!!!! :hyper:

Still, the arps and stuff are not "tight" with live. Not sure if that is me or I just don't know the plug yet.

From Waves website:
Advanced and comprehensive Modulation Matrix
I have to question this.

6 mod slots and an archaic source-mod amount-destination design is all that Codex has to offer. Synth modulation design should be moving away from such a simplistic approach by now. Z3ta+ got it right all those years ago - although it uses the mod matrix approach only.

This is where Serum scores highly in my view: drag+drop+edit modulation, plus a much more evolved mod matrix view.

One more difference is, that Codex is also available as a standalone app, not only as a plug-in.

I use the standalone of Element a lot, so for me this is a big plus - for others it may be irrelevant.

Well for me Codex for $50 > Serum for $129

Also I like the presets a lot more for Codex and I mainly use/tweak presets.

The filters just don't sound very good to me in either synth, I guess I will be sticking with Zebra and Dune2.

Do you know SAVIHost? A cool and free application. It's a very very small VST-Host that creates a pseudo-standalone version of every VST plugin.
Just download, rename SAVIHost.exe to <plugin>.exe, here "Serum.exe", drop that exe file into your plugin folder and finally doubleklick Serum.exe... :tu:

Here are some audio demos. I'm not sure if they are as experimental as i would like but it gives an idea of the tones you can get with Codex.

The GUI looks pretty neat though, but I honestly like Serums better.

Serum kills Codex in terms of sound quality..
