Wow, that is some synchronicity :o

Just opened the new CM issue, and what do I see, that they gonna have a Xils 3 CM version that is shipping November 5

By the GUI, this looks to be derived from the 3.2 version, and not the same as Xils 3 Beat ?

I assume that within the same preset you can clearly hear Reverb in mode 1 and 2 if you switch to these modes ? To get reverb in the Xils 3 you must 1/ Connect signal to Rev input 2/ Connect Rev input to outputs 3/ Shape the reverb with EV or osc/lfo etc. But the first thing is to test if you can hear rev in mode 1/2 AND NOT in 3.
Have not tested any reverb modulation yet but Mode 1 and 2 worked properly. Only Mode 3 was "dead". But will check it out later today again. But I guess that if mode 1 & 2 works properly for me then at least my matrix routing should be correct.

DECAY & FILTER (5hZ minimum woot!!!) mapped to joystick on only one badass PWM SAW from OSC1 and it sounds bloody brilliant. Chorus is pretty interesting too. And the envelopes...oh boy...I love them. Very versatile and unique in the synth world. Btw due all those path issues can you please check if REVERB MODE 3 is muted? Or does it only happens to me...
Anyway, awesome synth. Pairs nicely with another mono synth of mine. Finally a POLY that kept my interest.

Thanks Sebastian,

Thanks :) Yes the EmS also invented ..... VECTOR SYNTHESIS a long time ago. And its exactly what the Xils 3 Joystick can do for you. It also acts as a MACRO controller, as you can assign a lot of source modulations to it. ( and in the Xils 3 full even assignable sources like EV segments, output of LFO or envelopes etc etc)

Now the reverb 3 mode : I would not say it only happens to you, but it works here and in all the systems we tested. Its not daw or system dependant, as its an internal module. I can confirm the reverb issue. It seeems to happen when you select Reverb 3, then select another reverb choice and switch back. It will then disappear and you'll just have the dry signal. But Reverb 1 and 2 will still work.
Thanks, we'll look into that. That's why it was hard to put it in light, you have to switch several times the reverb modes for the bug to occur

1/ Open ancient versions, then export presets using the 'export bank' function
2/ Open new version V2, import the bank(s) you just exportedin step 1
sorry, that sounded pretty straightforward, but can't figure it out. the sound banks are in a drop down, along with the export command. I have to choose one or the other. can't figure out how to choose a bank and then export.

I can't seem to figure out how the banks actually work either (as far as where they are stored on my computer). I know when I import one, it just stays on my desktop afterwards. are they stored as sound banks somewhere, or are they turned into something else like a text document once they've been imported. was trying to find the folder with all of my old banks.

Thanks.
Hi Michael,
The soundbank that will be exported is the one that is selected when you use the export function. When you export the bank, you can give the bank a new name, and it will be stored as a file in the location you choose as a file. Xils preset management is very powerfull. I did not make a video tutorial for the Xils3 LE V2, but I made one for Oxium. (see below ) it should be 99.99% identical in the LE V2, as it is one of the -numerous-things we reworked for the version 2. Last thing, to move a preset to a custom bank you created, you can use the "move to' function in the 'save as' preset menu.

Xils3 LE V2 has now been added to Kvr product database and you can now choose it as fav, put it in your wonderstudio, say you own it, etc etc. Still have to know a bit more about all this, but I clicked everywhere, and now its officially mine on Kvr :)

They are stored in c:/users/public/Documents/
Not necessarily. It depends on the path you gave the installer during installation.

Anyway, if you want to know how the system works, i can help.

1) It does not matter where the plugin DLLs are. They can be anywhere.

2) The presets can be anywhere as well, but their location has to be specified in the registry. (So the plugin DLLs know where to find them.) This is done via a REG_SZ string named 'InstallDirectory' in HKLM/SOFTWARE/XILS-lab/XILS 3.2. The path in that string can be changed to any location you want, in other words it is possible to put the presets in a dedicated Presets folder and then put that Presets folder in your preferred location. (Example below.)

3) Imported presets will appear in Xaviers .prt/.inf format in the UserLE folder. The UserLE folder is in the folder that holds the factory presets. This is also where it has to remain in case you put the factory presets in a dedicated folder and adapt the 'InstallDirectory' string accordingly.

Now if youd like to customize your XILS 3 setup, heres an example. I did it this way because i avoid putting non-OS stuff on the C drive whenever i can, plus i wanted the presets in a dedicated Presets folder rather than the dir that holds the DLLs. (The example shows a C path because i made the example in a test-sandbox.)

With that out of the way, i have a question. For some reason it seems as though the preset manager for the sequencer does not allow for naming/renaming a preset. Also the preset manager for the matrix connections seems to be missing entirely. Now since LE V1 definitely had those features, (i checked to compare), and even the ultra-light BE version had the preset manager for the matrix connections, i can only assume that something must have gone wrong because i can not imagine that Xavier would actually remove features from what is supposed to be an upgrade. Info on this would be appreciated. :)

Oh, and before i forget; when you export a bank, the file will have a double-extension.

(Like ExportedBank.evcs.evcs)

I noticed that after feature-adapting and re-exporting the BE bank i imported.

BE itself did not do that, so it must have been introduced during V2 development.

After a succesful import you can remove the soundbank file from your desktop.

No you cant name sequence presets. A simple way to save a sequence for further editing and/or modifucations is to save the preset itself. Basically it is intended for sound designers to help create patches while a sequence is running, and trying a few different sequences on the fly.

Yes, Matrix Presets have been removed during the development of the Xils 4 because they were conflicting with the new Xils 4 separate browser wich enables users to load *partial* presets for the two different engines/synths, wich combined together give a global preset in the Xils 4. Very usefull and creative addition btw. You can make new presets in a flash by mixing different parts of existing presets in the two synths engines. At some point we plan to reintroduce the Matrix Preset Manager in the Xils 3 V2 and Xils 3 LE version.

Also, you can rename the bank immediatly after it is imported in the LE, for cosmetic appearance, if it has the .evcs extension in the LE internal bank browser.( Rename Bank function )

Yessssss, this is part of the PLAN :hihi:

And thanks to CM  / I cant quote them, but in substance, they told us it certainly was one of the best CM versions ever proposed :)

So, how does this CM version differ from the LE version? Will the CM version be able to use expansion sets?

Yes, of course, but that wouldnt help me in achieving what i actually want to achieve. Like you said, 'It is intended to help create patches while a sequence is running and trying a few different sequences on the fly', which is precisely what i want to save them for too.

But then the saving itself isnt really the problem, as a matter of fact it works just fine. Its just that the ability to name and rename the presets isnt on the UI anymore, which is why youll inevitably end up with a list of 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, and so forth. Right now the only way to name or rename a sequencer preset is to hand-edit the respective .inf, which of course works too, but the UI way was definitely better. :hihi:

Ah, i see. Didnt think of that because im not familiar with X4. But its good to hear that plans for reinstatement exist. As you know these matrixes are quite powerful, so the ability to save and reload predefined routings is extremely helpful indeed. In fact i would even call it one of the most important features outside of sound related aspects.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)
