Mixing Console Questions

Hey Guys, after doing some research I've narrowed down my choices to a few:

I needed a new interface and Mixers got me thinking into Hands-On control. I've been using 2 MOTU 828s for 20 total Analog inputs, for a bunch of Hardware Synths and Modules. My synths (Virus, NR etc) are external, but effects (Soundtoys, Lexicon etc) are internal. So now I was thinking about upgrading to a Mixing console and interface.

I like the fact that Digital mixers are all-in-one solution, but it looks like I will still need an interface for AUX/Send/Return effects (if I want to you my own).

Questions:
Can I aggregate (using Mac) a Presonus SL or A&H Qu to one of my MOTU's?

Someone who has bought one recently, does the Presonus SL AI still have fan noise? Can I run S/R busses without the use of an external interface? I know with the Qu, I'll have to use it, just because its doesn't have that many Ins/Outs.

My other choice was the A&H Zed R16, but it seems like the ADAT 1-8 and FW 1-8 are just copies of each other and I can't do any to change that.
