Too late dude, I'm converting next week to R8 when these lads pony up for a license. Then I'll be on the prowl for the 65%'ers, explaining just how crazy they are NOT to upgrade.

Congratulation for having version 8 next week then. Welcome to the bright new era
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

the line 6 thing is a ONE OFF, and the devices will BE IN ALL CURRENT AND FUTURE REASON VERSIONS for another 2 YEARS. Which means they will also be in Reason 9 unless props take MORE than 2 years to release that.

This will never happen again, it was an unusual mistake, steinberg have discontinued SO many things as have other devs and get less flack than this, products just dropped *overnight*, and here props give 2 YEARS warning and get flack..and they have even future proofed it so it can *never happen again*. let's cut them some slack.. Please.
Losing the Line6 stuff in the future irritated the hell out of me at first, but I've started replacing them with the Softube stuff (as well as Kuassa) in my active projects and have found the results to be absolutely stellar. Maybe it's that fresh paint/new car thing clouding my ears, but I don't care at this point. The results are good and I'm OK with that.

I do have concerns about some refills that used them, though. Thankfully, I don't have a lot.

Yes it is, absolutely a deal breaker. Along with the even brighter sequencer background

He'll be blazing through projects so fast that he'll have even more time to spend in this really dark KVR forum.

There's a huge amount of change between Reason 5 and Reason 8.

Some would argue too much unaccommodating change if you like the Reason 5 workflow and ideology. You have to jump through hoops to make Reason 8 work like 5.

As I stated on the other main thread (now locked) about Reason 8; I wish Propellerhead had kept the Reason and Record projects separate and kept developing something that remained true to the original Reason philosophy, in addition to the newer more experimental and convoluted DAW product that is Record.

Well. The sequencer may be brighter for some but I like it this way. With my eyesight the way it is it does relieve eyestrain.

The patch browser issue is just another annoyance... but not showstopper quality.

What I think could have been a lot better would have been to not have shoved RE SDK out before the bugs had been worked out. To me, the whole thing is a bit of an embarrassing situation. Even if the debacle was 2 years ago it might have been more useful working on the SDK during that time then bringing it out.

I do not know for sure, but the fact they are being sold in their shop makes me think they may not be included in future ver.
The amps will be included in all versions of Reason going forward.

They are in the shop for a couple of reasons:

*So that people on 6.5 and 7 can demo them.

*So that people can see a price associated with the Amps and make clever mental math calculations about how much the upgrade is worth if you factor in the price of the amps. (the true value of the amps is way less than what is posted, imo. The bass amp is lacking in character and ...really? 69 dollars for a couple of impulse responses and a drive/EQ?)

Tops it is worth 9-15 bucks.

The limited feature guitar amp with zero ability to change mic placement/and mic models and four, count them, four cabinets is worth more, but not 69 dollars more.

The guitar amp does have some decent tones with a bit of tweaking, I will say.

While it does have some good tones the pricing seems a bit much. But then, R8 seems a bit pricey for some. :(

BTW...the eleven rack can be used as an interface. It takes some fiddling though..

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to hear some examples. Post a before and after.

Where can we hear your music?

EnochLight - do you actually play electric bass & guitar? I'm wary of those who praise the Softube amps as an effect to their electronic music, because it doesn't accurately represent the experience to be had by a player.

I was of the mind that the Line6 bass amp was pretty good... not that I would know, I only have a cheap Ibanez bass and don't really know about dialling in a great tone (I primarily play guitar rather than bass). But I agree with most, that the Line6 guitar amp was horrible.

I am of 2 minds when it comes to any amplifier simulation and that may be typical of a fair number of guitarists or bassists here. So you are not alone there :x

Softube seems to sound better but it could be just my bias. I never really liked the Line6 Sims as such. They seemed a little ... ermm...buzzy to me.

What I wish could happen is an RE version of eleven on this thing. Notice the term I used for R8....thing... :hihi:

Gotcha. I'm far from being 'in love' with Kuassa either, but it's a vast improvement from Line6 in Reason. I just wish there was some gear that actually sounded like a real amp & cabinet. Oh well, Eleven rack here we come. :tu:

I don't frequent guitar forums but many 'top 10' lists for sims include Kuassa, so maybe I can;t expect true sounding tones via the computer.
