Of course, you prob put a lot of time/effort/passion into your work, understandable.Sampleconstruct wrote:You're absolutely right, that's how I've been handling it, just sometimes I need to rant about it and indulge in some traces of self-pityKriminal wrote:Its a waste of your valuable time trying to stop it. All of my packs have been spread too. The annoying this is, it's BIG business! People are wondering why even free stuff is pirated? ANY contented (even free) is shared on these sites because it is not about the what the content is, as much as it is just having content. This is because the websites get money from advertising, premium signup etc., so they will take anything (free also) just to entice users to their website.
It's the websites that are using your (our) content to make lots of money that I can't stand. That IS stealing IMO. Its not so much the users downloading free, although they are ignorant and don't really understand what the effect of this cause is in the end.
My advise? Same as kriminals, forget it, don't even search for it and spend your time and effort on new content. Thankfully, for the rest of us that actually do think about the effects of this, there are people still giving reward where due.

Exactly those were my thoughts today when browsing some of those dark and shady torrent sites with dozens of ugly ad banners and popup boxes, someone is obviously making some serious money here and the content is just a vehicle to get those idiots to click on one of those banners.Biome_Digital wrote:All of my packs have been spread too. Hahaha, brilliant. And some very cheesy country and western derivatives in 8 Bit accompanied by totally overdriven feedback samples which will burn your speakers even if played back at -20 dB.aMUSEd wrote:A soundpack composed from Barry Manilow and Demis Roussos samplesSampleconstruct wrote:LOL, imagine all the terrible things you could put inside such a RARaMUSEd wrote:I wonder what would happen if someone created a torrent exactly the same size and name as the warez one but with crap inside it, and uploaded it, might dissuade or at least annoy a few people perhaps?

This is what took down a few "sharing" platforms - the legend is that RIAA flooded Kazaa with fake files which made it unusable.Sampleconstruct wrote:LOL, imagine all the terrible things you could put inside such a RARaMUSEd wrote:I wonder what would happen if someone created a torrent exactly the same size and name as the warez one but with crap inside it, and uploaded it, might dissuade or at least annoy a few people perhaps?

I wonder, how they get the content? Do they hack the server on which it's hosted or some buyer creates the torrent?
I am getting ready to release my first commercial soundset soon. So just gathering info for my knowledge.

I actually sent the guy who purchased the set last week and which was torrented today an email, asking if he did it, haven't received an answer yet.satYatunes wrote:I wonder, how they get the content? Do they hack the server on which it's hosted or some buyer creates the torrent?

If it was affecting my business badly I'd have 1 parameter in a single patch that varied by .001 for each customer.
Customer 1: Env 3 Release 1.650 seconds
Customer 2: 1.651 seconds
etc...
Then start learning what sort of customer is sharing their soundsets (might be hard to track since I presume their IDs are fake). Emailing a paying customer is a bit unprofessional IMO, though I certainly understand your frustration.

if the "customer" is buying and posting Simons work on torrent sites imo not pursuing the lowlife is unprofessional,I say do anything you can do legally to hassle the assh*les!
Simon puts in lots of work, time and talent to give us these patches,I have no sympathy for thieves.
