that IS truly odd... but I cannot help but agree with you: as much as I hold my breath while doing ANYTHING registration or install related with Waves stuff...it really rocks. I have not used Element (I *do* love my Retrologueraymondwave wrote:I opened up a new project today and I can't get that behavior happen either anymore, weird thing. ADSR seems to play just as intended, release tails mixing smoothly with attacks.blortblort wrote:I *thought* that was what you were talking about... I initially experienced the same... but now- I'm trying to recreate it and I'm having a hard time... At first, it sounds like note stealing...but even when I turn the "notes" value down to 4 and play clusters, I'm not getting that odd retriggering like what you are talking about in your recording (around 0:05 seconds in...)
I'm liking the sound also. Similar thing happened with Element, just can't seem to stop playing with this synth.

Thanks, I think focusing on the "analog" nature of Codex is where its sweet spot is.hibidy wrote:Wow! That's really cool!PatchAdamz wrote:I am liking how analog you can get with this little bugger.
Here is a fretless bass patch I have been working on:

Yeah, "analog" would be one way to describe it. I really like the sound of it. (big question mark on playability with my hosts! )
Here is another patch I just made with it - A Log Drum Arp:

The Waves shell works under/as VST3. I use Waves in FL that way (Instrument [Element] and FX). No probs.ATS wrote:blackflag wrote:My DAW keeps thinking it's an effect instead of a synth, something to do with the shell I suppose. Waves plugins are always such a pain in the ass, I'm finished trying to get their products to work properly.
What host? If FL Studio I had this problem and you have to open the shell under instruments.

Here's a small arpeggio jam I made trying out Codex.
https://soundcloud.com/raymondwave/crypto
I mapped some filter and adsr knobs to my controller and just let the arp play, in the end I also change the wavetables a little.
There's Eventide Blackhole reverb, PSP 85 delay and some mastering plugins (this is made with headphones in an hour or so).
I like the sound a lot. The arp is actually not in any key, I just realized that, but it sounds old school so what the hell.

Is already sold, so, right now, there are no alternatives to the ones listed above.ATS wrote:analoguesamples909 wrote:any comment on cheapest pricing before I spend my money at plugindiscounts for $84?

Just got Codex from WavesUniverse. The final price while paying wth PayPal was around 69 €.
This is one of the few synths that i had purchased after a quite short time of testing
I already got Waves Element and those synths from Waves have a certain sound and GUI (especially that one page design) that i really like.
i would not really compare it to other wavetables synths i own (i actually got a bunch of them) but i like Codex for what it is and prefer the sound and presets over Serum.
Those filters in Codex seem to work nicely for doing both analog and digital stuff and i also like most of the included wavetables.
Will now also work on using the wavetable import feature properly.
In Audio Term I exported one of my older wavetables (from e.g. Wavegenerator and/or DUNE 2) in the Serum format (which is WAV format like Codex) and it seems to work nicely in Codex after importing it.
Will also try to export directly into the "normal" WAV format.

Yes, I think the filters are one of the high points.Ingonator wrote: Those filters in Codex seem to work nicely for doing both analog and digital stuff.....
Here is a pad just completed with Codex, focusing directly on its very analog qualities:

Maybe it sounds appealing because it doesn't sound like a WT synth
I think I could do that pad in my va synth as well.
