Bought yesterday with Xilssentials. Very nice sounding synth. I would buy Xils4 if it came serial protected or at least used the software only version of iLok (i.e. no dongle required).

its iLok OR elicenser protected, so if you use elicenser you can use the soft elicenser (no physical dongle)

XIls 3 full version is Ilok or Elicencer, but only dongle version. For whatever reasons the soft Elicencer wasn't proposed to Xils/

Found this when i clicked the Upgrade button.

Shows all the feature differences in a nice grid, and also indicates that there will be a Beat Edition and a Special Edition besides the already mentioned Computer Music Edition.

Well, when I made this little grid, I wanst aware that the SE versions just mean : Special Editions, as a generic term ( That can mean CM or else )

And yes it tires to summarize the differences between the different Xils incarnations : Mag, or Special editions, XIls 3 LE V2 ( Wich this thread is about), Xils 3 V2 ( the monstruous analog modular synth ) and the Xils 4, that can be seen as a double Xils 3 V2, and for wich words are lacking to describe its power

All users can access this data by clicking on the Upgrade button on Xils3 LE panel. I also did this because the differences between the different versions did generate a lot of questions and private messages, and did not make easy support !

Yes you can also open the panel midi settings in options and assign any Xils 3 LE parameter to a midi controller. ( easier to visualize what you do ) These assignations are permanent, and stored in a specific file.

Xils 3 LE is a breeze to control with all those knobby devices like Novation or similar controllers/

Thanks for the synth! Sounds very nice and seems to have a lot of potential.

The GUI is too large for my laptop-screen though and choosing "GUI:reduced" doesn't seem to change anything (I'm using Tracktion in Windows 8 on a recent Samsung laptop) Couldn't you just make a scroll-bar?

I'm the only one using this laptop (using Logic Pro X), indeed as an administrator.
Everytime I try to launch XILS 3 LE V2 2.0.2 and enter the serial, I get the message that the authorization went well and that I should relaunch. So I relaunch, only to enter the serial again, and so on.

i'm having this same problem with the newest version (but I didn't have it on the original V2, it just worked).

This issue is really really harder to fix than it appeared at first sight, and when the 1rst fix was released. But be sure that Xils-Lab is working hard on it NOW, and a final fix will be released as soon as possible. Please be patient.

Xils 3 LE offers pristine sound quality with an average cpu hit. It will always run in Godly mode. Quality doesnt have to come obligatory with an intense CPU print I think.

Xavier wrote that there's even a newer version since today, but that the problem might relate to OS X 10.9 so I'll try the latest one out later today.

I just downloaded and it is a newer version than I grabbed yesterday. works great, remembered the fact that I authorized yesterday, so I didn't have to re-authorize.

(Of course i checked, after all you never know when you want to paint the frontpanel or mount new knobs.)


Anyway, as for the TRIG/GATE thing i reported a few posts up; in subsequent tests i had noticed that the whole thing apparently varies from session to session, but the reason why totally eludes me. For example i cannot seem to recreate the described effect on the startup preset at all. With my own INIT preset however i can, but as i said, it seems as though im not always getting the exact same result with that one either, especially once i started tweaking stuff.

So just to show you that i wasnt phantasizing when i said that KEYB OFF behaves the way i described, ive attached a preset where you can see that it actually does. (Its simply my INIT preset with KEYB ON unset.) You can also unset KEYB OFF and set KEYB ON instead to see that the env does in fact not Sustain. Maybe Xavier can have a look at it and figure out what the issue is?



Other things:

- Under KEYB it still says TRIG CONNEXION

- Sensitivity tooltip still says Sensivity

- SeqConnection large display still says A/B, A/B, A/B

I have 9 or 10 other points but i need some time to put them in a decent format. (I only have short-notes right now.) Will add them soon.

Hi Christophe.
Mouse Over Labels display Pan Left (%), resp Pan R(%), wich seems relevant for Pan knobs. Adding *Ext* to the mouseover label names would not add anything I think. These are the only two pan knobs of the synth, so no confusion is possible. Why Pan EXT ? The GUI serigraphy is just identical to the way the knobs are named on the original EMS VCS 3 : Authentic sound, and also genuine labels

The 2 outputs, each with its own independant lfp/hpf filter make the XIls 3 LE very flexible, adding an HPF can be found on many old Roland units for example. On the VCS 3, each HPF can have a different setting, and its own Pan. This topology adds a lot of possibilities.

I dont have access to all my synths atm cos I'm reinstalling a new PC ( So that I can have some real empathy with all of you guys when something doesnt work as expected ) I'll try to recover your previous post when I'll have access to the LE again, try to understand precisely what its about, and make more tests. Seems that the Xils 3 LE V2 is now very stable and robust on all systems/configs.
