bad track(s) on an otherwise great album

'another flavour' by the sundays, from their 'static and silence' album. not really a bad tune, but a bit out of place on this album. would have sat far better on their 'reading, writing & arithmetic' album

For some reason I often find that track 4 on either side of a vinyl album can "make or break it"

Music for the Masses by DM is a good example, that could have been a classic on par with Violator, hadn't it been for Sacred and Nothing

as to the topic, somewhere i have a random compilation of punk tracks, picked up because it had a couple of random gems on it like 'Another Girl Another Planet', as well as some more obvious staples. pretty much all classic punk/new wave stuff.

first track was some random track by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Of whom I am not a fan. WTF? Deleted that when i ripped it.

Ive also got a Skeletal Family compilation somewhere which I like all the way up to the last track which was some lightweight dancey faff with the vocalist who replaced Anne-Marie Hurst. That got deleted when I ripped it too.

Fairport Convention's 'Mr Lacey' and its Quo-esque boogie is somewhat jarring as the second track on 'What We Did On Our Holidays', especially considering some of the traditional stuff that's there. Directly after 'Fotheringay' its pretty uncomfortable, in fact.

slightly offtopic, Ive always somewhat loved the fact that 'Good Technology', the best known track by the Red Guitars sounds so incongruously unlike anything else on the album it came off, (Slow To Fade).

Interesting, I've never heard the full album because I disliked both of those singles so much. Then again, I'm not really a Peter Gabriel or Genesis fan.

I liked "In Your Eyes" though.

I so love that song.

I have it on one of those punk/post punk sampler albums too (also great tracks by The Pop Group, Young Marbled Giants and Swell Maps)

imho his first 2, maybe 3, albums are the only ones I find listenable anyway.

not so much a bad track as it just doesnt fit in with the rest of the album, just jumps out and makes it a jarring listen in amongst the fluidity of the rest of the album.
