It's really strange that so many wavetable synths come at the same time, or maybe not
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Have you seen WaveGenerator on iOS? It has the same display, showing the path traveled through the table. At least that's what it looks like to me...Numanoid wrote:Is it modular is some way or other? The big "window" in the middle of the GUI, reminds me a bit of the Zebra interface

I want to believe he hired someone else to design the UI, cause the ones on iOS are pretty sucky...

So the "window" will function maybe like this?:Aural Chaos wrote:Have you seen WaveGenerator on iOS? It has the same display, showing the path traveled through the table. At least that's what it looks like to me...
"Another way is to transform a picture into a wavetable. You can load photos from your album or even shoot a picture with the camera.
The waves are collected in a grid of 256 fields, to which the 3 oscillators of the synthesizer have arbitrary and independent access."

Not necessarily the part about converting pictures into wavetables. The window is showing (IF it's the same thing) a grid or matrix - each spot is one wave in the table. As a note is played, it shows the path through the table- it could just go from position 1 to 8 and hold there, say, or go to position 16 and then bounce back and forth, or whatever.Numanoid wrote:So the "window" will function maybe like this?:Aural Chaos wrote:Have you seen WaveGenerator on iOS? It is a bit conincidental... a bunch of people all independently working on a technology that had been kind of neglected for a while.penguinfromdeep wrote:It's really strange that so many wavetable synths come at the same time, or maybe not

actually this is only one of 6 GUI pages that are related to the new synth where 2 pages (not that one shown here) belong to the more "interesting" features compared to other wavetable synths.Numanoid wrote:Is it modular is some way or other? I have prepared 6 screenshots of those pages and will post them when it is allowed (possible that this will be at the official release).
As already mentioned the wavetables from PPG Wavegenerator are compatible with this new synth including those that could be craeted/exported using the free Audio Term tool (Wavegenerator output format).
Not really allowed to give more infos at the moment so please be a bit patient.

I suppose developers don't really know what more to do with virtual analogpenguinfromdeep wrote:Serum, Codex and now this
Anyway, they all seem to have such fancy displays now, those alone would occupy one core of my AMD processor

All what is coming from Mr. Palm in the last years regarding Wavetable-Synths is in real nothing news.
Old stuff in new clothes.
Beside this, all this offered products are CR- or Dongle-Ware and this is a absolute no-go for serious sound-designers, composers and musicans and causes very, very big problems in long term.
Waldorf-Palm Wavetable-Synth are the past, the future lies in innovative and dongle-free VSTis like "SERUM".

Hopefully there are better sounding filters in this compared to the Wave generator. I remember demoing the wave generator and finding it was way way too clinical and sharp sounding.

There are plans for multiple products including both software and hardware indeed. Anyway Waldorf is quite good at keeping secrets at how far they are with the development of those.Everglide wrote:Wave Wars indeed, I believe Waldorf will release something soon - right Ingo
Regarding Nave for PC/Mac i could only guess but i don't really think it will during this year. I hope it will be done before Musikmesse next year.
