sfz format mapping of, you guessed it, Kingston's Ruffrider kit.

Excellent :)

I have added the Drum Map section now at Harmony Counterpoint; in there so far are the two files by Pljones and also a zip by Egbert that contain four EXS24 mappings. :)

It reads as though the files I am hosting are unofficial – I put them there with permission, as with all files on my site – I put them there to help out K-v-R get the files rather than keep waiting (if you look at when this thread started – I have also offered to help create an Official site (and host it) as the official creator still has not, not heard back on that so. It reads as a bit vague - just want to clarify that.

Just popped in to make it sure it's clear for everybody:

You can do any modifications to the kits, and post them where ever, but I think it would be best for everyone if they were kept and collected in one place.

Spe3d thanks for helping me out.

I was hoping they would all reside on the official site among the rest, like the to-be-FAQ and future sample updates. Unfortunately the creator of the site has disappeared.

Thanks Mike, :)

I have just had an email from your official web designer and sponsor – apparently he had to start from scratch but will have the main site up in two days from now, I guess he has contacted you at the same time as me now – so all should be cool :) . If it's not in the future look me up.

Mike,

After seeing a bit of criticism, I just had to chime in and let you know that I (and I am certain, many other people who haven't posted) really appreciate your giving away these samples for free and all the effort you've put forward to get them distributed. Thanks.

Hello people :)

First of all, an apology to Kingston, Spe3d and the second mirror (you'll know about it soon) for the huge delay.

I haven't completely fallen off the face of the Earth, I've just been busy with things and I've been working on Kingston Drums site ;D

The main reason for the delay is that I have redone the site from scratch. I'm an unemployed web designer by trade and I've been putting some serious effort on this site as I'm going to use it as a reference in the future.

I switched from messy html 4.0 transitional garbage to fully CSS based layout and I'm aiming for xhtml 1.0 strict compliany, although at this poing I'm thinking of skipping that as xhtml (especially strict) sucks ass imho and requires redudant stuff just to validate properly (come on, <blockquote> should contain block level elements like <p<, now how f**ked up and anal is that =). I've also spent considerable time making sure it's easy on the eyes, works across all major browsers (even though statistics prove that there really is only one major browser ;), etc, the usual web stuff that seems to be ignored by the majority today :P

I still can't make a definite promise that it'll be out in a day or two, but that's what I'm aiming for. There's a few content related things we need to discuss with Kingston such as the possible forum/guestbook/shoutbox and changes to the current contents and the final graphics need to be tweaked for the new layout. Other than that, it's practically finished.

So, stay tuned. As soon as the last details have been worked out, we'll break a bottle of shampagne on the front page and head to a bar to celebrate the launch :D

Oh, one more thing. I'll be fetching the new updates to sampler mappings etc once the html stuff is done, so if anyone wants to make sure they're added to the site, PM me. I'm also considering adding one or two formats myself as soon as the site is done. Details to follow...

Regards,

JMH

JMH,

You da man! never doubted that. Let's simply stick to 'it's done when it's done' from now on though.

Don't sweat it man, we're not ingrates here (for the most part). Alotta ppl here generously do things on thier own time without 'compensation' so alot of us are used to bieng patient for this & that :P

pljones-- you are the guy.

Partly because of your sfz maps, but mainly because after downloading your sfz files and having a peek, I realized how much flexibility and power there is in the sfz format.

I wish I was a programmer... although it's not strictly "necessary", an sfz-format graphical editor seems in concept like a simple thing to create.

sfz and projects like the Kingston drums were made for each other. ;)

Hi! :)

I have done a small LinPlug RM4 Kit based on EasyRider plus I have used the floor tom from RuffRider.

All the samples have been put under a little tailoring in a wave editor, to get rid of some stuff that I did not need, and cut to zero crossings.

It probably does not sound like the original kit – but is responsive to velocity, and can be played fast. (I will do another kit based on this one later but that will be a tad radical)

It’s a 14 MB download and uses 98 % of the waves from EasyRider, and it’s available now in the download section at Harmony Counterpoint.

Best regards,

Spe3d
