I don't remember there being any details... just a comment(s) that it is on the to do list... no timetable eithernoiseboyuk wrote:It's good to hear they plan to address it - do you have a link where anyone from U-he discusses this? Would be interesting to read.pdxindy wrote:It is the long term plan to improve the patch browser (as stated by U-he). Personally, I like the U-he patch browser much more than the Native Instruments one (I find the NI one annoying). I don't like the whole database thing. I don't like that I do a search and get some of the same presets as the previous search. I don't like searching by terms cause my own presets are a bit hard to categorize and or don't easily fit the standard terms.
I like that I can organize Bazille presets in my own way. I can manually make my own directory structure. I have no trouble finding what I want in U-he synths.
But don't worry, I think most people prefer the database thing, but I do not.

My observation is that the word analogue has little meaning in such discussions. People mean all sorts of things by it.kelvyn wrote:Is there a way to objectively analyze/critique something without always being tied to ones own personal points of reference and taste? Sometimes on these threads the clouds of absolutism hang drearily over our heads... It seems obvious to me that those people who like the analogue emulation of DIVA and ACE might be inclined to not like the more digital sound of Bazille or Zebra, especially if their genre of music tends towards the analogue saw tooth sound that a lot of trance and dance floor embraces whereby conversely some producers involved in Dubstep might be more inclined towards a digital sound. There's a similar discussion going on right now with regards to Serum and Codex.
Analogue synths themselves do not always sound "analogue" (what people call analogue). Actual analogue is not always warm or 'phat' and can easily sound thin and cool. A lot of trance and dance floor music embraces the supersaw type sound... which is a digital creation.
The characteristics I personally most associate/appreciate with analogue (had a number of them over the years) is that it does not alias, you can do crazy modulation and the sound does not fall apart, it has an immediacy and aliveness and you can expect the unexpected when you push it.
By that criteria, I find Bazille comes closer to sounding analogue than some synths that are touted as analogue sounding.
And I agree that it is great the variety we have available today... and as far as I'm concerned, anyone is welcome to not like Bazille. When I play it, it does not sound any less awesome to me whatever someone else's opinion of it

I was umming an ahhing between Bazille and Xils.
Bazille just pipped it for ease of use for me - possibly because I was already familiar with ACE, and Xils seemed a bit arcane at the time, having never played with it or a real Synthi or VCS3 before.
I liked the sound of Xils, and it's still on my list of stuff to get when I've got enough spare dosh.
But I think I made the right choice at the time - I was getting sounds I'd never been able to get before almost straight away, and the digital-ness was a refreshing shift from all the uberanalog stuff I'd been immersing in lately.

And you have (re)started Cubase after installing?
And did you check if it's listed here: http://www.musictech.net/wp-content/upl ... ture-1.jpg
