2 tracks from Druu - A little IDM, a little DnB...

Here are a couple of tracks I uploaded to Soundclick a few days ago.

"Lifeform" is an IDM track driven by a groove that sounds like some alien heartbeat. It's all softsynths and a few samples for flavor.

"Out There" is a DnB track, but with a twist. Instead of being dark like many DnB tracks, it has a more upbeat feel like a soundtrack for speeding through the city at midnight. Again, it's all softsynths and samples, although this one is sample-heavy as many of the beats are cut up and twisted loops.

Hey Druu,

Just listened to "out there", its very cool

I like DnB, and I do like the hard stuff, but something a bit less abrasive is good too. I really like it, kind of thing i would aspire to.

Although I feel the mixing on Outthere could be refined I like pretty much what I am hearing. A cool combination of sounds, not so much bass-driven but very playful in the high sequences.

'Lifeforms' on the other hand is more synthy and has some cool things happening in the melody. I think with a bit more percussion going on this would become more lively. The initial drive is a good one allready, but could use a bit more oempf.

Yeah, I went round & round over the drums & percussion on "Lifeform." My original idea was to keep the drums very sparse, in order to accentuate the heartbeat kick. I didn't even use a snare at first. As the track got closer to completion, however, it seemed a little too sparse so I ended up adding parts while still trying to keep the kick up front.
