Thanks god Ingo, we have some *serious sound-designers, composers AND musicians* on Kvr. If this was not the case, how could we, simple mortals, not very serious sound designers, half baked composers, and at best mediocre musicians, ever see the light ?Ingonator wrote:Indeed. PPG products indeed use CR while some Waldorf Products use the eLicenser protection (either with an USB dongle or with a soft elicenser license stored at your HD). The current Waldorf Edition uses a simple serial protection BTW (since around 2011) and those who had the old CD ptotected version could request a new serial.
Wolfgang Palm WaveMapper 2 is out for PC and MAC

I found this quote in another thread:
It is a synth with it's own basic sound and feature set and at least two major features not available in other wavetable synths (at least AFAIK).
Let's make it clear: The new PPG synth is not intended to be a replacement for Serum, Codex or other synths.layzer wrote:you should wait till wolfgang palm's new synth is released. it might blow both of them away.

Neat!
WaveMapper from description on Wolfgang's website sounds like vastly improved and feature-enriched Plex synth.

this is true, Ingo! but for many of us there is no need for any of these new synths as OnePingOnly already covers all the bases!Ingonator wrote:I found this quote in another thread:Let's make it clear: The new PPG synth is not intended to be a replacement for Serum, Codex or other synths.layzer wrote:you should wait till wolfgang palm's new synth is released. it might blow both of them away.

Hi,Ingonator wrote:Without Mr. Palm and Waldorf something like Wavetable synths would not even exist and Waldorf is one of the few companies that still provides hardware Wavetable synths like the Blofeld.MorpherX wrote:All what is coming from Mr. Palm in the last years regarding Wavetable-Synths is in real nothing news.
Old stuff in new clothes.
Beside this, all this offered products are CR- or Dongle-Ware and this is a absolute no-go for serious sound-designers, composers and musicans and causes very, very big problems in long term.
Waldorf-Palm Wavetable-Synth are the past, the future lies in innovative and dongle-free VSTis like "SERUM".
Your comment is also funny as AFAIK you told that you own a real PPG Wave hardware synth. If you really think that the current products of Mr. Palm are no improvements i do not agree with you. Wavegenerator had a Wavetable editor long before Serum or Codex were released and there is also a compatible wavetable format in the free Audio Term wavetable editor.
Also things like the 3D wavetable display in Serum were copied from Waldorf Nave and even from the old Waveterm units for the PPG Wave 2.x synth.
Anyway at the same time i also love the PPG Wave 3.V synth which BTW was created by Waldorf and not by Mr. Palm while he helped with beta testing and providing new wavetables and factory patches.
Concerning Waldorf i am of course a bit biased, not only because i am more or less working for them now (as the Waldorf Beta forum manager, Beta tester and sound designer).
Of course the new PPG synth will also sound like a PPG synth and if you don't like that the synth is maybe not for you.
the thematic of this post is that is coming "news" regarding Wavetable-Synths from Mr. Palm.
And what is coming real news with Wavemapper 2 ?
With Wavegenerator or Wavemapper (v1) you can not do what is possible in the Table-Editor page of Serum ( Math and drawing features, different morph modes between waves on two pages, Resynthesis modes, Import and Export-Fearures and variety combination of waves and so on....).
In addition to this there is an excellent Noise-Oscillator and many different filter types.
Its simply to handle and in my view a dream for wavetablesdesigning.
Some real analog filter with warmness could of be added, but the German and French filters are already quite good.
If I want for example warmer analog sound I use Waldorf D-Pol after Serum, which I have bought years ago and which was even updated resently.
Beside this I of course like my Hardware-PPG Wave 2.3 and Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V, feature- and soundwise. That why I have bought them but using now only Wave 3.V.
I am open to everything news regarding Wavetable-Synths including everybody and every company.
It's OK if you work for Waldorf but the sientist in me tells me that you might be no more free in your statements regarding this Wavetables-Thematic.
Best regards and be busy with your "Codex".

Oh god you're so boring with the Serum speak in any other wavetable synth thread already. Cut it out.
There are things that Serum can't do that WaveMapper and Wavegenerator CAN do, you know?

You are more boring, which I see on your silly statement.
Beside this tell exactly what this Wavemapper and Wavegenerator can do more and/or better than Serum.

Do we really have to compare every existing wavetable synth to Serum now? Seriously?MorpherX wrote:My quote is related to Ingonater not to you.EvilDragon wrote:Oh god you're so boring with the Serum speak in any other wavetable synth thread already. Cut it out.

Like every anlog emulation was comapred to Diva until the point where i started to fu**ing hate Diva (don't worry, i like it now while Tone 2 Saurius is still my "go to" VA synth...)?
You simply don't seem to get my point about the fact that there are different wavetable synths with different feature sets and different basic sound and most of them are great on what they could do.
Those "one synth for everything" approaches are silly IMO.
You simply do not seem to accept that some people prefer certain synths for what they are (the whole package of sound and features) and not because they have the biggest feature set etc. (BTW Serum still misses an Arp + Step sequencer...).
Do i have to feel "guilty" because i own a bunch of wavetable synths (and mostly know how to actually use them...) but not Serum? No i don't...
I also got a ton of my own waveforms created from different sources including the now discontinued DNR wave Designer (which included a way to create waveforms from mathematical formulas(equations...). I also got ways to create my own wavetables including the awesome Audio term tool.
Wavetables for both Codex and Serum are both "simple" WAV files (waveforms in Serum use 2048 samples and in Codex it seems to be 512 samples) so there is no real "miracle" about those.
For example they could be also edited in an audio editor like e.g. Wavelab Elements 7.
Not to forget that e.g. PPG Wavegenerator and Synthmaster 2.6 already had an option for doing custom wavetables long before Serum (and both Wavegenrator and DUNE 2 have compatible formats in Audio Term, Codex too if you use the standard WAV output format with adjustable file formats including the waveform size).
Besides this of course i am currently not allowed to tell all details about Wavemapper 2 or post screenshots and/or audio demos as there is no official release yet.
