Something like Chainer but 64 bits ?

I'm looking for a very simple host ( simplest possible ) that loads super fast, is super stable, and is FULLY compatible with all synths/effects, and would be comparable to what Chainer was in the 32b world. ( PC Win7/8 )( I dont need modular hosts, or sophisticated/bizarroïd hosts.)
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance if something like that exists.

If you can get your hands on Kore 2 software. It's 50,000,000 times better than chainer, and is a super preset librarian on top of all of that. It also works perfectly in 64bit. There is no better solution.

Thanks Stephen and Timfonie.aMUSEd wrote:Cantabile
Cant believe the lite edition is free !
If it loads quickly and its vsti scan shows it actually sees all my synths, its might indeed be a winner, especially the solo edition is closed to what used to be the price of chainer a lot of years back.
I'll try the lite edition next week. Hopefully if I go for the solo edition, I hope it can replace directly the lite one without needing to make all settings again.

Thanks Orbit-50. Yes I have Kore 2 and I think my company should even be the only one who released some Kore 2 versions of some of our soundbanks.Orbit-50 wrote:If you can get your hands on Kore 2 software. I bought Chainer back in the day, and it was perfect for what I needed. It would still be the best if the dev ever decided to update it. Unfortunately, I believe he stated that he would never update it past the last version. I can't understand why he is so reluctant, but it's his plugin and he can do what he wants with it. However, those of us who bought it are left out in the cold. I wish he would at least sell it to another dev, so that it can continue to be developed and updated. I, and I'm sure many others would be willing to pay a modest fee for an update.

I totally understand the OP. I've tried them all. Cantibile is currently a close alternative, and others like VSTHost that require hand wiring are nice but tedious; nothing still comes close to Chainer for speed and access and the time from instantiation to joy is unmatched. And as pointed out it can be hosted as a plugin as well (it can host itself); plus it can sample a keyboard mix + effects to create sampler-ready samples, you can save the entire setup to a preset, useful random functions, even mix values between two patches, audio mixing options, a recording function to capture quick ideas... All in that nice tidy little package.
I've written to Xlutop over the years, and the guy is just not interested. In fact he's so dead set against it that I suspect he's lost the source code... You know, it's not even VST 2.4; I think it's 2.3; just that might have helped the situation. In the last couple of years some newer plugins have stopped working with it. Some don't load at all and some load but there's no sound. It sure would be a great time for an update or for someone to make something like it.
By the way, I have used it with J-Bridge in 64-bit hosts. Actually I also use it to occasionally load 32-bit plugins that aren't J-bridged and that I don't let my 64-bit hosts scan because they're somewhat "experimental" in nature. It's pretty stable but I've noticed that it's easy to overload the DAW with a heavily loaded J-Bridged Chainer probably because Chainer was not compiled for a multi-threaded environment. But it seems to handle a few plugins well in that context although I don't trust the VST recall so I'll render something I want to keep to audio ASAP. YMMV.
