Hi everyone, here is my mix. That recorded snare sound is great btw. I had a lot of fun mixing this and applying a few things I learned since the last MC.

 Native Instruments Softube Enhanced EQ
 Bootsy epicVerb
 TRackS Classic EQ

Automation was used where necessary, mainly with reverb, delay, panning and gain.

For a small bit of insight, here's how I processed the kick and bass:

1) Cut out and added frequencies on the kick.
Image

2) Cut out and added frequencies on bass, plus added RBass.
Image

3) Grouped the two instruments/sent to buss, and chucked TRackS Classic Compressor on the group. I selected the preset, “Kick 2”, and I liked the way it sounded so I did no tweaking.

Thanks!

Mix description:
I found the arrangement / amount of sounds rather busy so I tried to do my best with strict separation - all tracks have EQ with high / lowcut.

Lead guitar I found a bit too clean for this track so it went through an amp simulation.

Some volume automation, light compression.
Three different main reverbs for 'depth' (close, medium, far), + some FX reverbs, delays, choruses.

I can’t say much about my mix … I’ve found the production quite ready so it was just a little bit compression here and a little bit EQ there … on the 2-bus just a hi-shelf to open it up a little bit (I think it was the Master EQ 432) … I’ve tried to make the mix quite smooth …

Hey Guys!!
This is my second KVR mix challenge and mixing this song was a great experience.. Nice work Photonic!!

Here's my mix:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/mcp ... 3.mp3?dl=0
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/8js ... u.wav?dl=0

I mixed in Reaper with freeware plugins monitoring through headphones.

EQ:
I used ReaEq in every track
Strings through BaxterEq for Mid-Side processing

Compression:
Snare and Toms went through ModernDynaKiller
Percussion through ReaXcomp (only compressed between 1,3 and 6,1 khZ)
SoloGtr, 12String, Clavi and SynthSolo through ReaComp
Brass and Horns though ModernLostAngel
Drum Bus through ThrillSeekerVBL
I used no compression on Kick, Bass and Distorsion Gtrs because I didn’t feel they needed any…

Time-Based FX:
I used 2 different delays : easy-Q-delay and ValhallaFreqEchoMkI
EpicVerb as my main reverb

Other FX:
SaturationKnob on Bass and SynthSolo
CamelCrusher on 1 of the DistGtrs for a slightly different character
OvertoneGEQ on SynthBrass as a harmonic exciter

Finally I used some volume and pan automation.

I hope you enjoy my mix… Good Luck to everyone!!!
