Yep, you can rename it to anything you want so they can both live in your plugin folder together.Rah wrote:Woot!andy-cytomic wrote:The Drop v1.0.6 is ready for download, and supports offline activation and also has a permanent trial mode if not activated:

Sorry if I sound a bit thick, but do I just rename the old The Drop .dll? This version uses a new "Plugin ID" so it can co-exist with older versions. If you are updating and want to support both versions then please make sure to rename the older version (eg The Drop legacy.component) before copying over the new version. I had to switch to a new plugin id to work around issues imposed by Logic's interesting handling of automation.

You can't, in Logic you will have two "Stereo" entries under "The Drop", and in other hosts you will have "The Drop" twice, the first entry is the old plugin, the second is the new one.asksol wrote:Thanks, but how do you rename the old one? For AU the filename has no effect on the name of the plugin

Oh crap - that means my Kore template doesn't work any more - I'll have to rebuild it.andy-cytomic wrote:Yep, you can rename it to anything you want so they can both live in your plugin folder together.Rah wrote:Woot!andy-cytomic wrote:The Drop v1.0.6 is ready for download, and supports offline activation and also has a permanent trial mode if not activated:

All of the old sets that I had The Drop loaded in cannot find the plugin, which seemingly means that I can no longer retrieve all of the settings that I had on those plugin instances.
This is true in Numerology 4 and the newest version of Live 9. My AudioMulch sets retrieve the plugin just fine. Previous betas seemed to preserve their settings, and stay instantiated, but no luck for this one.
I'd really like to use the plugins with the settings I had selected on those instances. Will I need to re-install the last beta to recover?
edit: I have confirmed that going back to 1.0.4 recovers the plugins in those sets, with their settings. I suppose that I will rename the filenames of the old plugins and I should be able to export my presets and switch to the new version?
edit2: I renamed the files, and I can get 2 versions of the AU to coexist in Live9's plugin browser, but only 1 version of the VST is visible, and it is the old version.

As Andy said, the new version uses a new plugin ID. That means you should keep 1.0.4 or prior, rename the.dll (call it thedrop legacy.dll), and install the newest version, thus having both the old and new versions installed at the same time.renderful wrote:All of the old sets that I had The Drop loaded in cannot find the plugin, which seemingly means that I can no longer retrieve all of the settings that I had on those plugin instances.

As already pointed you you need to rename the old plugin before copying the new one to the plugin folder. This works for VST and AU, there must have just been a mixup. Here is a screenshot showing both "The Drop legacy.vst" and "The Drop.vst" in the same project:renderful wrote:All of the old sets that I had The Drop loaded in cannot find the plugin, which seemingly means that I can no longer retrieve all of the settings that I had on those plugin instances.

PS: sorry for this horrible state of affairs, there are multiple things that are mostly my fault that have caused me to have to change the plugin id, and I was really hoping to avoid it but then I got pushed over the edge with Logic's handling of automation not being upgradable to "high resolution" without changing the plugin id.

Hi Andy, I bought The Drop over a year ago now and fell in love with it, so now the offline activation is up and running I'm super chuffed to finally have the (almost) release version installed. What a genuine 1st class plugin.... a labour of love, no doubt.
I have a question: The first thing I did was run a sawtooth through The Drop and started moving the filters with my mouse, and they sounded scratchy and steppy, so I mapped a knob from my Remote SL controller but still the same. Everything is fine when modulating or automating the filters. I opened the older version 0.9.18) to compare, and indeed the filters were smooth as silk when using the mouse. So my question. Is this an intentional, necessary decision to remove the smoothing, for whatever reason, or a bug? I hope it's the latter as it's nice to map knobs and have a good tweak.
Cheers!

The smoothing should be identical regardless of source, so automation or gui knob, or midi knob should all sound the same, so this sounds like a bug to me. Can you please email me directly about it? www.cytomic.com/contactSatch1 wrote:I have a question: The first thing I did was run a sawtooth through The Drop and started moving the filters with my mouse, and they sounded scratchy and steppy, so I mapped a knob from my Remote SL controller but still the same. I know that the remote SL has some sort of wrapper layer, so my first guess is that this may not play nice with the intensive graphics of the new version of The Drop. You may want to try mapping some parameters to your Remote SL and then closing the GUI of The Drop and see if that helps.

What settings do yall use to get nasty overdrive? Coming from zebrify I could use the drive knob on the xmf filter to totally destroy the sound, and would like to do something similar with the drop. Even when cranking drive on both filters it's much more polite
thanks!
thanks!
