Got a problem here...

I got Audiobus which is for audio and at the moment many apps didn't yet update, so they don't show up in compatibility....

But how do you hook up midi instruments? For example a sequencer, sequencing a synth?
Is it all done in audiobus?

TIA

Nope, the midi bit is all done outside Audiobus anoyingly while the audio still passes through AB

Where available simplest way is IAA instruments (not to be confused with IAA generators) these operate in a similar way to a VSI / AU Cubasis, Meteor and MTS studio handle these well.

Otherwise it's a case of setting the virtual midi in and out up appropriately. Unfortunately this varies from app to app which is why it would have been nice if AB had imposed a de facto standard or if midibus had caught on.

WOW, thanks for the info :(

So what do I do with a sequencer that has no sound output? How do I hook it up? .....Would someone create those if they can't be connected?
See, the rest of my setup is W-7 PC...just recently migrated to Apple, but I want to use the ipad alone

Thanks

And please tell me how do I load two vsts into ipad at the same time? Via Audiobus and then make connections?
(sorry a n00b in appleland)
Thanks

Any app that can send or receive MIDI will have some sort of settings. It can be as simple as just "Virtual MIDI" or more specific, such as " MIDI out- app X- channel 12". In general, you just point the app generating MIDI to the app you want to receive it. If it's not working, let us now which apps you are using and maybe someone can help.

They aren't VSTs, or course, but yeah, that's what Audiobus does- you can send audio from a synth, to an effect, and have multiple parallel chains if you want (if your device can handle it).

Thanks a lot.

Much appreciated

Which particular apps are you trying to use?

Basically any sequencer to a synth. Like Crystal. Any Sequencer that just sequences, no sound on board, I don't know yet which one I will get, I am looking to buy one, but I need to be sure that I can connect the 2 :?

TIA

PS, do you know/recommend any sequencer?

For example Thesys or Effectrix from Sugar bytes that are 50% off, sequencing Crystal, or any synth supported in Audiobus.
This is what is says in specs about THESYS:
iPad Edition Features:
- Inter-App Audio (Host & Client)
- MIDI file Export
- Integrated Synth
- Audiobus Support (Sender)
- Full Midi Support (Virtual, Network, Extern)
- Midi Clock Sync (Master & Slave)
- Action Section (Gatetime, Looper, Slowdown...)
- Pattern Sequencer
- Zoom

I mean this sounds like what I need, doesn't it? :)
TIA

Thesys is pretty cool as long as you have good eye sight :)

Bought Thesys, it's good with the zoom but i strongly recommend getting a stylus makes detailed editing a breeze!
