Can you explain deeper? I'm of a younger generation, though I've certainly wondered why Mr.Roboto wanted to "kill Roy".

Rush 2112: In the year 2062, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. By 2112, the world is controlled by the "Priests of the Temples of Syrinx," who determine the content of all reading matter, songs, pictures — every facet of life. A man discovers an ancient guitar and learns to play his own music. Thinking he has made a wonderful discovery that will be a boon to humanity, he goes to present the guitar to the priests of the Temples, who angrily destroy it and rebuke him for unearthing one of the "silly whims" that caused the collapse of the previous civilization.

Kilroy was here tells of a future where rock music is outlawed by a fascist government and the "MMM (the Majority for Musical Morality)"

Mylo Xyloto tells the story of a war against sound and colour by a supremeist government

Right. OK. Yeah I knew the Rush story, but never realized it wasn't alone. All based on a book then, right?

I'm a ninties kid, so a song like Mr Roboto I'd never put much thought into. It was just another poppy 80s song.

I've only come across that Styx album myself recently.

What I find ironic is that one of the main AOR raaaawck bands of the late 70's/early 80's make an album on this concept, while at the same time packaging their music in a "Coca Cola" consumer friendly manner

Scientist also met the space invaders and presumably defeated them as well. He's a hero to us all.
