Absolutely figures. I can get it from GC but I have to pay the full 299. Not sure if the uncle will get anymore licenses soon enough to curb my needs

After about 2 years of being pretty happy, I got in a real rut. For whatever reason, I feel comfy with opening and setting up a project in bitwig and composing vs what I have.trimph1 wrote:I still have not bitwigged bitwig.
I is happy with what I have now.
Anyways, still looking for a license, I have a potential seller but he may think I'm not will to pay enough. (we'll see)

Is anybody offering cheaper than the current sale at JRR shop? It's like $255 in the cart or something. I think I've seen two offers ever that went below that.hibidy wrote:After about 2 years of being pretty happy, I got in a real rut. They don't have it in stock, according to the uncle no sooner than next week.wasi wrote:Is anybody offering cheaper than the current sale at JRR shop? It's like $255 in the cart or something. 299 at GC instant download is the best other price (and I think you might be able to go a little further with that chat thing)

What are some limitations in bitwig studio right now?

It's a long list
-no count-in for clip recording
-no pre-determined clip length
-no foldering
-no way to record passes of audio.
-the engine isn't super tight yet. For example, if you record a clip and are able to stop it in time to loop lets' say...two bars....it take a while for the clip to "catch up" (usually one pass). Recording midi loops in the arranger works fairly well, but during record might not play all the notes (but will upon deactivating the record. I guess this isn't everyone though, try the demo)
-The current impuse API doesn't work with sliders
-No fades on audio clips*
-Modwheel "issues" (I'm not qualified to explain it)
-Needs more midi features (ALL of my hosts need this!)
-No rex support
-Some midi drag/drop is incomplete in file length
-No audio quantize (at least not like the studio one/ableton way)
That's all for now.....
Some of these are being addressed, maybe I missed something that is ironed out in 1.1?
Now I know what you are asking.....why on earth would I want it? Well, it's something different. It's not a rehashed version of live w/o as many features as some of us (cough, me) jumped to conclusions on. The creative aspect is impossible to describe. The groove 3 viddy's were pretty good in actually explaining the basics. Even though I can't save, I'm really open to a new way of approaching computer music.
*but the way bitwig "rounds off" in drawing automation is a semi-workaround.

Son of a biscuit. Thanks, hibidy.
Anyone know what features are being updated here?

Go to the bitwig forum and look up the two beta threads. 1.1beta6 is a separate thread from the original. You have to dig a little, but one of the highlights is multi-out/multi-timbrel.

The count in and predetermined clip length is a big deal.

Not that I heard... but I figure it is not that far off considering that 9 has been out for getting on 2 years (is that right?)hibidy wrote:Why, was that announced?pdxindy wrote:You gonna go for Live 10?hibidy wrote:Well guys, I decided to bite the bullet and nobody has it

I was wondering if you were ready to replace Live with Bitwig... thus the question

indeed...memyselfandus wrote:The count in and predetermined clip length is a big deal.
there are also no time signature changes... not important for some people but critical for others

It kinda is. Then again, as it turns out, I have to workaround that with push and prerecorded midi anyways, so I'm working around it.memyselfandus wrote:The count in and predetermined clip length is a big deal.
Hosts.......workaround after workaround....It's never changed in all the years or all the threads.

Ah. Well, replace is not really in the cards currently. I'm not sure that it will do that. Besides, I don't think the market is very good for live suite right now. I like bitwig to be a completely different approach to making music. I want it to evolve, but I had to be ready for that way of thinking.pdxindy wrote:Not that I heard... but I figure it is not that far off considering that 9 has been out for getting on 2 years (is that right?)hibidy wrote:Why, was that announced?pdxindy wrote:You gonna go for Live 10?hibidy wrote:Well guys, I decided to bite the bullet and nobody has it

As for 10......depends. If it's just a bunch on nonsense that doesn't drastically improve the workflow, then no (for example, I don't a flying f..k about vst3...if that is one of the updates). Just like I don't care about studio one 3 anymore unless they fix the cpu optimization. It doesn't matter what they add, if my cpu meter is spiking and jumping around, I'll live with what I have.
Live 9 works well (sans max4live) so It's always there if I need it.

Yeah, unless 10 adds something unexpected... I plan to stay with 9 as it is good enough for me... when Bitwig is a bit more developed I like the idea of switching... I love the bounce in place per clip. If it had an individual non-linear undo, it would be perfect.

Well, hopefully, the seller/transaction will be post-haste. If not, I'll be patient. Good price. It's a worthy addition to the stable. The only thing I'm nervous about is saving/exporting which obviously I couldn't demo. It would be a drag if those fracked things up after putting it through reasonably rigorous hoops.
