Well does anyone know what city he lives in? It'd be easy enough to search news archives....just in case.

According to his Twitter and Google+ accounts, he's from Wiesmoor, Germany.masterhiggins wrote:Well does anyone know what city he lives in? It'd be easy enough to search news archives....just in case.

K. Could any of our German-speaking associates take a gander? I can do English and Spanish, but the online translators for German to English aren't really helping me.

codec_spurt - What a pathetic little cretin you really are, at a time like this.
Talk about completely missing the point of this thread and instead going off your own disgusting, unprovoked rant at me.

Sorry to bother you - does anyone know if Dennis (Bronto Scorpio) is okay?
Whilst this thread might initially seem a bit of an over-reaction, nonetheless, very unusually for Dennis he has not visited KVR for approx 3 weeks and he has not responded to a couple of my PMs or emails either (he usually posts at KVR approx once every day or so).
I bought one of his splendid synth preset libraries about 10 days ago, for an excellent bargain price of approx £5. But he is yet to send the download links through, and this alerted me to the unusual change in his patterns.
I genuinely don't care about not receiving the preset library - £5 is nothing - but I am honestly a tad worried about Dennis now, given his unusual silence.
Does anyone have any news, or can anyone contact him just to see if he is okay?
Cheers.
Doug
It also turns out that you paid the princely sum of 5 bucks for some of his goods.
I'm kind of questioning whether you are more worried about him as a person and whatever difficulties he might be going through, or the fact you didn't get your download.
I had a stalker call the police who knocked on my door very hard, because I did not reply to her mail for a week. Different thing I know. But, sometimes people go off the grid. They might be unwell and are battling a stomach ulcer and are trying to take it easy. They might be hacking and researching Virtual Machines.
Three weeks is not a long time. I spend longer than that learning about the difference between different types of equalizer technology. My family ignore me on the whole, but every now and again, the key turns in the lock. They think I have had enough of it all and imagine to open the door and find me swinging from a rope. God, that's annoying. Sometimes I just don't want to talk to other human beings.
Just giving one side of it. I trust your intentions are good, but you know?
I'm sure he/she's ok.
A few weeks is nothing when you are going through something.

Thank you chaps (above) for trying to help with this worrying situation.
As put in my opening post, and all throughout this thread by others and myself, let's hope Dennis is okay.

I had some e-mail contact with people that are closer to Bronto Scorpio than myself and for them it's a mystery as well.

Dude, I think that you're taking it wrong. I totally get what codec_spurt is saying. There may have been a little animosity towards you in there about the five pounds, but he apologized in the next post, and, I get where that might have come from. Point being, I think that the name calling is uncalled for.Doug1978 wrote:codec_spurt - What a pathetic little cretin you really are, at a time like this.

He didn't miss the point of the thread, he just added his own perspective. FWIW: I don't know Dennis personally but I've done business with him and he's a bit of a free spirit. I wouldn't be surprised to not hear from him for a month or two, which was kind of the main point that code_spurt was trying to get across; some people, for whatever reasons, can drop out of contact for a period of time and three weeks isn't very long. The secondary point, which is where I think the animosity comes from, because I get it, is that some of those people who drop out, get annoyed at others expressing concern. In a sense, it's disrespectful of that person's lifestyle choices, and in some cases, time. Dropping out can be a way to obtain solid temporary focus. Just because others think that it's strange to drop out for a month, doesn't mean that everyone thinks that way.

The only thing is that its now 4 month without any sign from him beside the fact that he was about to send a link for paid stuff to a customer (which then never happend). Sounds not very good to me.

I also preordered the "Wired" sound set, and paid for it with money earned for work I'd already done -I don't get paid "in advance"!! Developers have a responsibility to their customers IMO.
I think it's perfectly ok to feel after over 4 months that something you've paid for should be delivered, regardless whether it costs 5 pence or 500 pounds. "Pre-order" as I understand it is usually for something very close to release, within a few weeks or so.
OTOH I think the concern shown here is genuine, and if the guy has "disappeared" it would be good to follow up.
I speak German, so if anyone wants to send me a link which needs translating, or wants a message drafting, I'd be happy to help.

It was a joke
They said that some people in the West just pack their bags and fly to Syria or Iraq in order to fight for the IS
Anyway, on a serious note, it is rather unusual to disappear for months if you have kind of a business, especially for a German...

I don't really think that's appropriate to joke about, especially in this thread.fluffy_little_something wrote:It was a jokeThey said that some people in the West just pack their bags and fly to Syria or Iraq in order to fight for the IS

Well, that's your opinion. I like to joke about EVERYTHING, including the Holocaust, suicide, Islam, Jesus, and what not...
