setSampleRate() takes a float - you created a separate overloaded function which wouldn't be called by the VST host.Full Bucket wrote:My most stupid (or at least most annoying) bug was this:Anyone spotting the bug?Code: Select all
virtual void setSampleRate (double sampleRate)
Something is cooking: RAGNAROK - RELEASED !!!

after some more noodling about with it, i think velocity sensitivity on the vcf and vca would be nice. i love the filter and eq and the patch manager system on it
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]

Björn and I deliberated about that. There's a note about it in the manual (Frequently Asked Questions).layzer wrote:after some more noodling about with it, i think velocity sensitivity on the vcf and vca would be nice. i love the filter and eq and the patch manager system on it

Too bad. Velocity/aftertouch would've been extremely useful over here.

I don't mind no velocity for monophonic mode, that's fine. But including polyphony without any velocity control (filters, first and foremost, then VCA) is a bit sad and leaves things to be desired.
Other than that, it DOES sound very good and it's an interesting layout, a different flavour.

Ha, a Minimoog, ARP Odyssey and lot's of other pretty expressive synths don't have velocity. The Original Ragnarök synth didn't have velocity but nevertheless it can do very expressive stuff.Kriminal wrote:Velocity is pretty much essential. I was going to try it later today, but prob wont now.
Polyphony was just a bonus because Bjórn had that code handy from other projects. But we didn't want to make this into some sort of bread-and-butter synth, there's enough available for that (Synth1 !!!). So RAGNARÖK is meant to be the awkward lead synth it used to be in hardware. Not to replace others, but augment a nice synth setup with other instruments (as it did in my hardware and live performance days).EvilDragon wrote:I don't mind no velocity for monophonic mode, that's fine. Exactly what we where shooting forEvilDragon wrote:Other than that, it DOES sound very good and it's an interesting layout, a different flavour.

I would, though, recommend to sort out clicking when changing poles, and make those 3/4-position switch knobs editable via up-down mouse dragging, too.

Yep, this has been mentioned before, and Björn is aware of those issues.EvilDragon wrote:I would, though, recommend to sort out clicking when changing poles, and make those 3/4-position switch knobs editable via up-down mouse dragging, too.

You mean old hardware synths that are very expensive to produce? Sure, a limitation of the time. Software shouldnt suffer from such limitations. If you want to go down the 'accuracy' route, remove the polyphony too...

Yeah, well.... as it is my hardware that is emulated, and I'm responsible (together with Björn) for the software version as well, it seems to be my call... so there you have itKriminal wrote:crimsonwarlock wrote:Ha, a Minimoog, ARP Odyssey and lot's of other pretty expressive synths don't have velocity. It's a free synth, you don't have to like it, you don't have to try it.... basically you don't have to 'anything'. We choose to build it and release it, you can choose to try it or not
We don't owe each other anything
