hello, i have downloaded and registered rhino 2 but keep getting a vst adapter error message when trying to open one of the rhino 1.09 banks to use in rhino 2. i don't have the specific message in front of me right now but it basicly states that the requested effect is not for the plug-in (rhino 2). i am relatively new to the daw game so the solution to this problem is very possibly a simple one that i am overlooking. if anyone has a solution to this problem i'd very much appreciate the help. thanks.

Which VST adaptor are you actually talking about? And which version is it?

Ta.

You might want to check the older threads here about Rhino2, more specifically this one:

thanks i did check that thread earlier but didn't see my problem there. i can open rhino 2 without any problem or rhino 1.09 without a problem but when trying to open an old bank from rhino 1.09 (any of tim conradys banks, morpheus etc.) to use in rhino 2 i get the error message. i'm using project 5 alone or through sonar 3 producer edition. i'll check the plugin manager when i get home but maybe somthing is going on with the 4 digit issue the big tick mentioned which allows for rhino 1 presets to be used with rhino 2. thanks.

Book,

Does your Rhino 2 version say "Rhino 2.0 pre-release /SP1" on the info page ? If it doesn't, you have the first version of Rhino 2 and you should apply the SP1 patch (get it from my site).

hello, indeed it does mr. tick. the exact error message i'm getting is "the effect file you tried to load is not for this plug-in". oh, and if you look real close near the handle of you're refrigerator at home you'll see a very very tiny spot, that's where my brain exploded. no toubles i have the amazing rhino 1.09 at home still working fine. thanks.

Post

Book, could you re-download the SP1 update and apply it ?

hello, because of a problem with some sony software i've had to do a few system restores amd have lost the rhino 2 update on a couple of occasions. this is the 3rd time i've downloaded rhino 2 and the 2nd time with rhino 2 sp-1. i'm thinking that unless there has been another update then downloading rhino 2 sp-1 won't help.

Post

I don't know when you got the SP1 update - there was a temporary SP1 preview that I sent to a few people out there (can't remember if you were one of these). If you installed the temp SP1 then definitely you need to get the latest one. Bo had the same problem (see the Bnb2 thread) and that fixed it for him.

hello tick,no i wasn't sent a preveiw sp-1 and my error message is a little different than bo's but i'll download the sp-1 file when i get home and hope for the best. i purchased bnb2 and managed to get it to work in rhino 2 no problem. ok, thanks. later.

Damn. OK, can you tell me your version of the adapter ? What's the exact message again ? And also, make sure your older presets are not write-protected.

If everything else fails please email me and I'll send you one of the older banks, saved with Rhino 2, for testing purposes.

ok tick the exact message reads "the effect file you tried to load is not for this plug-in. the vst-adapter version no. i don't have in front of me but unless there has been another recent update on the cakewalk site then i have the latest. please forgive my ignorance for i've never heard of or remember seeing a write protect window in any of the presets that i have for rhino or any other synth that i have licensed. the only write-potect i can think of was on the floppys and now on the md's. i thougt somewhere you mentioned a 4 digit no. in the code that allows rhino 2 to use rhino 1 presets was a factor. anyway i'll check for an updated version of the adapter when i gethome and look for that write-potect window. thanks for the great synth and sounds that you and your people have created. truly amazing. later.

well well well humorists i see. there is a warm, very warm place waiting for you on the other side. thats ok i finally got it. could have told me to simply copy the banks and place them in the rhino 2 presets folder. thank you i have often played the fool and i'm sure to play it again some time soon. thanks. later.
