I am using SCSI drives, at least that is what is listed in my properties.

I am running a motu 828 firewire card.

Everying else is pretty much USB, besides the internet and monitor.

I figure I have to have a few IRQs that aren't doing anyting, but taking up space are maybe causing conflicts. (yea I am still having blue screens, but less)

I am beginning to thing my Powercore is conflicting with something...

An Irq is not something you can get rid of. An IRQ is basically one of 16 direct lines of communication to the CPU available to your hardware. If there are some that are not being used, you cant disable them(they are probably all used anyway, by hidden system devices). Irq conflicts will only exist if you do not run ACPI mode, and 2 or more pieces of hardware want the same IRQ. That is usually fixed by 1 of several methods:

1) move the device to a different PCI slot if applicable

2) see if you can change the IRQ settings manually

3) remove one of the devices

If you do run ACPI mode, then you can share IRQs with many devices(and usually do). The faster PCs get the less of a problem this becomes. I have run ACPI with no issues throughout several hardware upgrades. If you are having blue screens(and assuming win2k/xp), make sure you turn off the automatic reboot by right clicking my computer/Properties/advanced/system startup and recovery/ Uncheck automatically reboot.

take down your messages and report back here, or search google for the module that causes the BSOD. It is likely a driver problem...

Post

Thanks...

When you say a driver problem, what does that usually apply to?

Printer drivers, scanner drivers, video....

Does it also include apps? AV, or others?

I thought I had a stick RAM go bad. I switched it out and have been running much better. However, I had a few blue screens in the last few days.

If it is a hardware problem, can a PC tech run some type of test to say check the video card and RAM?

Oh, When I'm on the internet, my app crashes fairly often. Doesn't matter if I am using IE or Firefox. My wife's laptop in on the same DSL router and never crashes the host while on the net or any other time for that matter.

I hate diags for one reason; false sense of security. Only if something CONSISTENTLY fails do you truely know if it's that item.

If you are using SCSI CDRom and DVD drives along with your hard drives, you could disable your IDE primary and secondary controllers, freeing up IRQ 14 and 15. Do realize that most newer cards DO support IRQ sharing anyway, it's part of the PCI standard, and does work.

So what is the BSOD message in full then?

While you can't disable IRQ's, you can certainly free up a few if they're being used by additional items that you're not really using, such as unused serial or parallel ports, etc.
Usually you can easily disable such items in your BIOS; in my own case, I free up IRQ's by disabling my mobo's onboard soundcard and MIDI (not being used), my parallel port (not being used), my second serial port (unused), etc.

You guys are the best.

I didn't write down the message and now it isn't crashing (of course)

It had something about IRQ sharing and the error message I had posted last week.

Next time I'll copy the sucker down word for word.

I'll leave the IRQs alone for now, I guess.

DO you think if I bring it into a good PC shop, they can check out what is wrong. Or is it like a car and it needs to be broken to see the problem (well sometimes)

I really don't know which I'm using...

Maybe it would be interesting to see if this helped.

I'll take another look.

Ok here are a few of the IRQs

3) COM 2
4) COM 1
18)SCSI and Raid controllers
20) NvDian force networking
20) Standard open HCD USB Host Contoller
21) Same as the second 20 (see above)
14) Primary IDE Channel
15) Secondary IDE Channel

So why is there two COMs and do I use them? How do I know if I use the others or not?

Most likely you do NOT use the com ports, unless you have an old com port dongle or an external modem for example. You're running in ACPI mode obviously, so don't even worry about IRQ's.

If you had IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, those are *NOT* IRQ conflicts, those are driver problems.

Save your money and just ask us when it happens. Taking it in is pointless if it's not crashing.

Yep,
That is the error...

So, it isn't bad ram, or could that still be?

and if it only crahses once in a while I'm a bit screwed in having a tech find the problem

What drivers am I looking for here?

I have a dual boot. Could the drivers on the music boot, causing crashing on the internet boot?

I have a Akai MPD-16 and an Edirol PCR-80 which are both fairly new. I only have them installed on the music boot. :?

Could the problem giving me the BSOD also be why I crash off the net or are these proably differetn beasts?

BSOD time :?

I was attempting to update aby driver I can find.

AMD has a app that is suppose to scan and install appropriate drivers, didn't work

Tried again and got the followeing (nothing about IRQs)

Stop: 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0xBFA23OFO, 0XB5987B60, 0X00000000)

THEN

G400DHD.dll- address BFA220F0 at BF9B700...

Isn't G400DHD.dll my video driver?

It's your video card. I've been seeing that 0x8E error more these days too. :? Do you have the latest updates for it? Which MAtrox is it? G400? G450? G550? I've been using the G450 for a few years now, and just recently switched to a G550 personally.

How can I tell?

I think it is a G400?

Does this mean it is crapping out, could take be why I keep crashing my internet browser(s)?

With the 550, is there any compatibility problems. (Cubase SX, Tracktion, BFD)

I’m running an AMD 2.6 with an ASUS A7N8X. If this would solve my problems I will happy skip to the PC shop and get a new video card.

Again, I really appreciate your help!

I’ll buy you a beer if your ever in Germany!
