Cage was the composer, but it was David Tudor who performed it. I think Tudor said 'right, that's me off now'.Numanoid wrote:What did John Cage say at 4m33s ?
An idiot on Set Theory:

About a year ago I remember browsing my local bookstore and finding a large coffee table book on Eno. It contained many, many examples of his working methods. It was really fascinating to look at- all the rules and little conceptual games he would devise, with the end result being a piece of music or work of art. I certainly can't fault the guy for his enthusiasm and convictions for unconventional approaches to creative expression.

Warren Cann shared an anecdote about Mr Baptiste de la Salle:
When producing Ultravox! he brought a synth into the studio, next to one of the knobs there was glued a little picture of a sheep.
When asked why, he told them it was because turning the knob made the sound go wooly
Believe it if you will

I was just watching a video of The Clash making the London Calling Album. To get the right vibe going, the Producer was smashing up chairs and everything while the musicians were recording. He looked completely insane. The band looked intimidated. They made a great record. Now that was exciting. In contrast, Eno is a bit of a bore really.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Here is an interesting 'beginners page' on Brian Eno's Music:
http://music.hyperreal.org/artists/bria ... aneno.html
After watching the video in the original post, you'll recognise ''Sky Saw'' (from 'Another Green World'). If you like ''Another Green World'' for example, EnoWeb then goes on to suggest other similar Eno albums that you might also enjoy.
I got a lot out of it anyway.

EnoWeb reckons that there are two "benchmark" albums which give a good indication of the rest of Brian's output. One is Another Green World, which has songs and instrumentals. The other is Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks, which has a selection of ambient pieces.EnoWeb gets a number of e-mails from people who have heard a small sample of Brian Eno's music and wish to know more about him, or want to know what album to get next. If you're one of these people, welcome -- we'll do our best to help you get acquainted.

of course, to get back ontopic, since this is Eno, he's probably also said the exact opposite to the contents of this vid, with just as much conviction, at least twice.
