Actually, although I don't see any problem if you edit the skin for your own use, you'll need authorization from Full Bucket (and me) to re-distribute. I can tell you upfront that I'm not in favor of that. This is an actively maintained plugin with updates over time and possible new versions in the future, and redistributing 'hacked' versions will make a mess of version control.
I hacked my own personal variation, due to fading eyesight. Not for re-distribution, so please don't ask for the dll.
SPLENDID!

AND MUCH MORE USABLE (at least for my eyes, but you and me we know someone else having the same issue, and even worse than me) THAN THE ORIGINAL!

Ragnarök would have got this skin as original, sure I would have adopted it immediately! As it is currently I can't even see the majority of the legends of the knobs. Even the position of each knob (the ultra-small white point) is impossible to determine for my eye as it is totally lost in the colors around it!

The GUI is the result of certain decisions made by the developer and/or designer... period. It doesn't matter which decisions lead to this particular design, it's what it is and that's it. When someone gives something for free to the community, it should be understood that it's that. Don't like the GUI... don't use it. Don't like the sound... don't use it. I've never bitched about anything EVER!!!! when regarding free stuff that was given to me. And believe me, I do have issues with certain freeware synths... but I deal with them in any way possible or decide to not use it.

Yes, I would really like for you to enjoy this synthesizer, but YES, I made the GUI this way because I like it (a lot) and it inspires me.
We have here a perfect example of someone who pisses on his users. There are flaws related by a user? He sends the user to the devil. Ok, don't worry, the other users understand too...

There are other styles far more kind to say that the user is wrong to tell about inhabilities! In your answer you clearly treat him as a shit!

WHAT !!!???? :o

Björn and myself have spend a very serious amount of time and energy to create something that is given away FOR FREE. And now YOU somehow think that we owe something to YOU

Get this into your head: it is IMPOSSIBLE to make a GUI that works for everyone. There are also people who can not use a DARK GUI!!! So dealing with that will take either skinning-support or switcheable GUIs, which both take another heap of time and energy to implement. If this was a commercial synth, that would actually sell enough to pay for the work, then there would be a clear incentive for the devs to dive right in to implement something for this. But currently it's something we do for free, so yes we get to decide and NO!!! that is not meaning any disrespect for our users.

However, YOU show a clear disrespect for devs that do something for free for the community. You are the one that is 'pissing on the devs'. Mind you, if you want something from someone, and expect even that they accommodate you for free, this is clearly not the way to go about it.

Having said that, Björn and I are already discussing this issue in regard to a possible Ragnarök V2 8)

So, you go to the music store and see a hardware synthesizer. You really like how it sounds, but that darn faceplate totally has the wrong colors, it's too light and the font used is really something you don't like.

So now you call the manufacturer you need that faceplate changed because it clearly 'is pissing on it's users', .... oh, and if possible you would actually not buy it but get it for free... WITH the faceplate of course :hihi:

Seriously :dog:

Would it be possible, if you (CW/FB) have all the original artwork/files, to make a 'darker' version for the ppl who want to use the synth, but find it difficult with current colours?

It could be a nice alternative download.

Depending on time needed and your inclination, it could be a win/win :)

What you suggest means that Björn, for every minor update, needs to compile two versions, package two distributions and manage two downloads, etc. I think he rather puts his time into 'other' things (again see my statement above  ).

OK. I was just trying to politely suggest a solution without the hissy fits, for those who cant control themselves :hihi:

Thanks man, point taken. :hihi:

Here is the bottom line:

"it's what it is [...] YES, I made the GUI this way because I like it (a lot) and it inspires me."

If money is the only motive the GUI designer could think of for taking the users, or potential users, issues into serious consideration - he'll naturally state that it's a freeware.

As such he simply don't have to care - take it or leave it.

However - if the designer could think of other motives. other then money, personal taste etc, he would naturally be interested in taking users or potential users issues into serous consideration.

Different designer have different attitudes and different motives. It's simple a matter of the nature of the designer.
