Sorry guys my fault.. There's a neat FL plugin that'll help you save paper and workplace space: Fruity HTML NoteBook.Muziksculp wrote:I found this https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHe ... rtcuts.htm'' to be very handy to have printed and kept close by while learning your way around. and getting used to all the shortcut keyboard & Mouse commands in FL Studio 11.
Usage: Save the html-page on your machine. Then load it into the plugin (and save it as a preset). Voila! Instant help. Comes also handy for frequency charts, mixing hints etc.
That's one of the little ideas that make FLS so unique.

Stepsequencer is just the way FL works, part of it's workflow, so, ye, might not be your cup of tea. As for the Waves thing, pretty sure Scott mentioned FL 12 will be the first version that Waves will actually support (so it should be fine... mind, I'm using Waves in FL since ver 11.0.3, no issues).lfm wrote:Crap - yet another daw I must test.
EDIT: Not for me. No Waves shell support and stepsequencer approach - no.

PLUS.. You still cannot delete a plugin slot without having to right click and go to the plugins drop down. sorry, but that's the kind of thing along with the midi learn still being around the houses, ESP. not automatically detecting the modulation wheel.
small things, but essential when you want to get in the zone,
ya feel me?

Thanks for the tip.

I'll chime in and say that I'm using FL 11.1.1 with my wrapper up to date and the Waves plugins seem to work fine (running the VST3 versions).GeorgeZ wrote: (so it should be fine... mind, I'm using Waves in FL since ver 11.0.3, no issues).

I only got the shell listed as a plugin - not the plugins.
Do you mean you get a list selecting that, or?
And never got any VST plugins listed in the plugins database, easily accessable. Got most things working without reading help - but scanning plugins.
Approach to midi maybe is back to the 80's programming hardware drummachines. It really felt like unintuitive and made different, not because it's better - found what was midi monitor button, but the rest arm for record, mute, solo I did not find.
I guess I just want a tapemachine style approach with clips.

I think I've been unclear - I ran FL11 as trial only. As I understand you need to buy that to run FL12 beta.GeorgeZ wrote:I use them in the listed shell. There is a workaround to get the plugins listed separately, but I never bothered myself as the shell worked just fine. Just tested in FL 12 and it seems to still be loading via the shell:
There is this separate shell2vst thingy - but that results in like 500 plugins on disk and clutter things up.
But I'm good, not every approach fit everybody. FL12 has a lot going for it. If any FL13 or so turns up that offer normal tracks with clips for midi I might have a look again - if still looking then.

Normal tracks are somewhat restrictive. The beauty of FL Studio is that you can arrange freely, like painting on a canvas. The track approach is based on dated technology when there were no alternatives, but I'm glad not all DAWs try to copy old hardware. Modern computers are infinitely more flexible. I understand that if you are used to traditional tracks and the mindset/workflow linked to them, alternative approaches may simply not appeal.lfm wrote:If any FL13 or so turns up that offer normal tracks with clips for midi I might have a look again - if still looking then.
That said, you can lock content to tracks in FL Studio, so a FL track (I think it should have been named differently, maybe "lane", because it's really not a track in the traditional sense) will take only the same pattern. Still not the same, though.
Anyway, it's good that there are different workflow options. I'd probably not be making much, or any, computer-based noise if FL Studio and Renoise didn't exist.

Been trying this out for kicks on my mac with wine. Seems to be working just great that way by the way. I'm clueless about the FL workflow, but I must say I'm intrigued and I've been wanting to pick up a more pattern based tool to compliment my normal DAW.
