No. The library was "huge" in 2008. Nowadays it should cost 299$ or at least be updated (importing features above all requests). For the rest: great instrument, one of the best ever.

Maybe there will be some sales of some samplers/samples this season.

You'll probably get 3rd party patch sales, but I'd be surprised if there was a Spectrasonics one - afaik they've never done a sale, ever. Personally I love this, there's no games about pressuring you to buy or not. And of course over the years they've given vast amounts of free upgrades (content, patches and new features).

Wow, where can you get it for 299$?

Sounds like U-He style. Good business practice, makes me respect them more.

"it should cost" in the meaning of "the right price for me has to be 299$, not 499$", "I wish it costed 299$" etc.

I own it (upgraded from the old "Atmosphere" for 99€ or so), but for the upgrade offer I would not have bought it brand new (499$ is too much for current standards... at least for mines).

for the individuals that do not think Omnisphere is worth $500... what awards have the other synths that have been mentioned in this thread won?

another point... Omnisphere cost $500 day one (not sure when it came out)... still cost the same today... therefore it has maintained its value... that sez a lot in the software world...

Omnisphere is not for everyone... it took me years to understand/go thru the patches... and i mean years (i also own atmosphere before owning Omnisphere and brought Omnisphere on day one)... if you only have sat down with Omnisphere for a hour, week, or month... there is no way in the world you know the power of the synth... there is just so/too much there...

like someone mentioned in this thread... Trillian and Omnisphere are a killer combination... expensive but killer... but if you have not spent a good amount of time with Omnisphere... your opinions do not carry much weight... IMO!!! :-)

i forgot about that... i owned Stylus (not RMX) and updated to Atmosphere and trilogy for $99 a piece... then updated to Omnisphere and Trillian for $99 a piece...

This is pretty ridiculous.

I always find it amusing how these threads seem to have a specific point where the customer base floods them with commercial 'omni-moan-ials' that truly say nothing and can be likened to a teenagers first orgasm. Truly, if it were 'omini' than Spectrasonics wouldn't have or need any other product.
I wouldn't put Spectra and U-He in the same class either just because neither has sales. U-He has demo versions and doesn't rely on brow-beating by their user base as Spectra-cide does. Or any other form of smug elitism and indifference. In short, there is no comparison in that regard because time and time again, Urs has proven to be in a class far above and still down to earth to the market.

Let me warn you about finding demos too. What I've often found is sales people with excuses. (That's not Spectrasonics fault BTW, but the chains such as Sam Ash and Guitar Center). Excuses like the computer is down, the audio room is in transition, I can't find the iLok for the computer(my favorite) or even getting a sales person over to you. But in each time I've been persistent and unrelenting to allow them to get away with their excuses, I have gotten to demo it.
The second problem I've found in demoing it is that these stores use the cheapest and weakest computer they think they can get away with, so don't be surprised if it sputters, chokes, freezes and gives you similar problems. This isn't the software folks, it's the hardware and the philosophy of profit killing it.

I do believe it is a good synth for what it does. However, by today's offerings, you can definitely do better and at a much better price. Maybe it was worth the 500 back when it was introduced. But really, the only people that think that now are the ones that bought it for that price. And that is just the nature of what we buy. We just can't stand to see it lose it's value and or perceived status we get from it.
Just in the last few months we've seen a couple of companies drop their pants and do what amounts to give-away prices. And we've seen the many threads surrounding them start, go through its cycle and get locked on almost every one of them with several members temporarily banned in the process of stating their displeasure of devaluing victimization.

Decent synth, is what it is, but hasn't been worth the asking price for quite awhile now.

Well, personally I don't need to convince other people of a synth. The only thing that counts is its value to me.

But in a reasonable debate one can mention when there are wrong assumptions about plain technical aspects in opposite to individual preferences like sound, usability, etc.

That said, calling Omnisphere a "Rompler" is... truly ridiculous. :)

c'mon man....it aint over until some idiot comes along to suggest that users who still find omnisphere excellent value, only do so 'cause they can't stand to see their investment devalued
