Funny, for me the biggest downer is not the price but always been the no-dowloadable thing. You have to physically have that big box and all those dvd's that you keep installing one after the other. No thanks, the less I have the better in term of junk that takes the dust in drawers.
If they had a lighter version with maybe less samples making it more suitable for download, I would definitely get it for sure.

Yeah man, that would be totally amazing! Although, I think that you meant to say fewer samples, not less samples. But less samples, er, um, lesser samples I suppose, would be amazing too, amiright?Neon Breath wrote: If they had a lighter version with maybe less samples making it more suitable for download, I would definitely get it for sure.

No man, this thread is totally fresh, people are baring their souls and preaching the word, it's totally amazing man. I feel like KVR is being elevated to a whole new level with this thread, you feel me? For those of you still on the fence, I say to you...on the eighth day god created omnisphere, and there was music, and it was good, hah, forget that noise, it was amazing broheem, that shit was amazing.hibidy wrote:Don't we have one of these every so often and they always go exactly the same way?

Of course you can (nobody said otherwise)... and regarding the synth sideelassi wrote:You keep misinforming the people. You can run Omnisphere without touching any of its samples.pdxindy wrote:no, but it does inform people of its limitations
Can Omnisphere do additive or spectral synthesis?
How about user drawable waveforms?
How about physical modeling?
Wavetable synthesis?
Importing single cycle waves (obviously not samples)?
Audio-rate modulations?
Analog modeled?
etc
Considering the synth side, Onmisphere is nothing like a be all end all synth. It is one of dozens of quality synths available today and it is middle of the road sound-wise... nowhere near the top sonically speaking.

Yeah, that's probably why it's used in $150 mil. movies and countless best-selling albums. But after they read your post, I really worry about its future in those productions.pdxindy wrote:Considering the synth side, Onmisphere is nothing like a be all end all synth. maybe these guys should start using a "real" synth instead lol....
Reviews and rants and raves are worthless to me without a demo. They all have reviews and raves from someone. I've tried out synths that sounded like a K-mart Casio keyboard that some famous producer supposedly used. I need the demo to be sold.

Can Omnisphere do my laundry?
If it do then I'll happily pay full price for it
.
Ok I'll shut up.
For now

Well, I really had no idea people were fanatical about it. I really just wanted more information. I didn't realize it would turn into such a passionate bout of sarcasm, or that it has occurred before. I just said, "hmm a lot of people seem to own this synth, so it must have something going for it"...followed by "$500?! holy crap"...followed by..."no demo? huh?"
This thread did yield lots of information though. Things that are not apparent on their site or by googling it up. So it was helpful.

Well, it was implied that it would do laundry at one point, I wish they would update it.
It's a very deep and powerful synth with a lot of flexibility. I've decided to keep mine for now but I don't use it as much as simpler things like element.

I wouldn't do it over again personally, but if you can sift through the bull there are a few people (and I'm actually trying) to give information. It's a ton of money, but if you are really looking for something that you think you'll use over and over......then maybe. If it's just "gas", I'd say no.

This is a great thread for me. I own komplete and trilian. And am long debating on my next purchase. Don't know whether to upgrade to ultimate, get omnisphere or go for some U-he synths. I'm not a heavy tweaker and just saw some video on making a patch from scratch from inside omni. Omni looks like it may be worth it, but it does seem a bit overpriced.
