Omni looks like it may be worth it, but it does seem a bit overpriced.
Honestly if you upgrade to Komplete ultimate you will get more bang for your buck in the long run.

If you are not really a tweaker than the only two U-he synthesizers i can think of that you might like, would probably be Diva and the upcoming Hive.

Zebra, Bazille, and Ace all require a bit of time to get used to because of how many parameters you can access.

Komplete Ultimate would give you the best bang for your buck as it comes with 75 products, 17,000 sounds and over 440 GB of instruments and effects.

Thanks. The only problem with ultimate is that there are only one or two items included that I actually want. I might just be able to piece those together later on. With Omnisphere, as stupid as this might sound, there is this mystique of being this huge bank of sounds. And until this thread, I have Never heard anything negative about anything Spectrasonics. Even the negative stuff here has more to do with cost than quality.

Yah I felt the same way about Komplete and ended up selling it

Then i just went to the KVR market place and bought copies of Reaktor and Massive which was all I really wanted and use. I did enjoy having komplete on my computer but in the end I wasn't really using everything that it came with.

It was one of those moments where i had wanted something for a really long time, and then when i finally got it i kind of felt let down. Not because the products weren't good enough, but because i personally just didn't feel i had a use for all of the stuff included. I suppose I would feel the same way about Omnisphere, because I like making my own sounds from scratch.

I actually wanted to buy Omnisphere once upon a time, but I eventually did more research on sound design and i felt i would rather do everything from scratch myself. That's just me though, i love to make the sounds in my tracks my own, and is it even necessary? Does the average listener care? Sadly not at all! That won't stop me from enjoying my own personal journey of doing sound design. :)

Actually most of the average listeners out there would probably applaud the sound design in a track provided by Omnisphere, because it is very nice! Would i know someone used omnisphere to make a track just by listening to it? No probably not.

I guess it boils down to personal preference and how you view your work process. If you take pride in making your own sounds from scratch with your own sample sources like me then you might not like Omnisphere, because it lacks the ability to load in custom samples. However if that does not bother you, then by all means buy it as it is a very good rompler.

Cons- Rudess, Size, Sound, Copy Protection

He wants to fill up the rest of his sound sphere with amazing sound man, he wants it all, he wants OMNIsphere, the total package, the heart, the soul, the mind, the passion, the heat, the cool, the right and the oh so wrong of it all man. There's no other synthesizer out there that can strip a man of his attachment to the shallow trappings of this life and replace it with a deep spiritual awakening that reaches in to touch the deepest parts of his very soul.

There's nothing quite like Omnisphere man, it's the one.

I don't know about the rest of you, but seeing that hefty box up on the shelf stuffed to the brim with DVDs filled wall to wall with glorious sound gives me chills all the way down my spine.

Thanks. Comments like that have caused me to hold off buying anything. It's part gear bug which makes me want more, and I'm sure once I get something I'll want something else. I feel like I can use more bread and butter sounds but from what I've been able to gather, omni isn't exactly the best at that.

At least go spend a few hours with Omni in the store... $500 is a lot to spend considering you are not even sure it is what you need...

It's just money man, you can't buy your way into heaven, but you can totally play your way into the hearts of angels with omnisphere.

Don't press play on this unless you have at least $500 (plus shipping) free on your credit card, and, you can't say that I didn't warn you.

How is he controlling the slide in that video? foot pedal? velocity? His hands aren't leaving the keys and it doesn't look like glide.

maybe these guys should start using a "real" synth instead lol....

Reviews and rants and raves are worthless to me without a demo. They all have reviews and raves from someone. I've tried out synths that sounded like a K-mart Casio keyboard that some famous producer supposedly used. I need the demo to be sold.
I think the argument above is utterly unconvincing.

Can it be the biggest conspiracy in the history of synths?
Every professional musician of
note, every major hollywood studio, every major industy music synth
award comittee got together and decided to lie
to part a few random dudes from kvr from their 500 bucks.
But they know better! Nobody can fool thrm, thank god!...

By the way there are 100 bazillion youtube videos demoing omni
including almost all factory and thirdbparty omni presets. Some folks will keep the ears plugged, the eyes closed, and the prejudices intact, and probably nothing can be done about it.
