Omni/Trilian/RMX for say,
$649.00 MSRP with a MAP at $599.00
In Cart pricing becoming $539.00
(Noting they would be bought as a bundle and couldn't be sold after except as a bundle.)

Who would jump on that?

I wouldn't... I already have massive GB's of sample based stuff that I hardly ever use as it is...

maybe if Spectrasonics released Minisphere (just the synth engine without the samples) for $150 I might buy it.

Or a lite version with a smaller library and a few limitations, no multi mode (stack or live) and a single effect chain for instance, ...that this time could be downloadable !

Apparently that is the case made the most here concerning the OP's question.
With only the people that paid that price agreeing with it being worth that.

Without anyone knowing the amount of people who bought it, that argument isn't worth anything. Threads like these are no measures either. And tbh, i don't understand the motivation to talk Omnisphere bad anyway, especially with some people here really trying hard to do so. Just because it's expensive? You don't have to buy you know.

There have been Omnisphere threads that ended up with the same issue kicked around. Some were literally trying to compare Cytrus to Omnisphere based on price alone.

I get that it is out of reach for some here but, really now, do we need the constant about it?

Interesting. I'm like you in the sense that I have lots of samples that I rarely use. I'll nearly all the time go for synthesis instead of samples, unless it's for something like orchestral instruments that need to sound pretty realistic. But I don't think of Omnisphere as a sampler with a synth engine tacked on. I think of it like a ROMpler where the "samples" are just oscillators.

which was merely some perspective on the direct or implied claims that Omni can do anything...

It cannot do the Minimoog emulation of Monark
or the audio rate modulation of Bazille
or the Buchla-esque tones of Aalto
or the additive synthesis and resynthesis of Harmor
etc etc

No synth can be everything... doesn't mean it's lacking, but it does mean it might not suit everyones interests. For the price of Omni, you can buy the 4 above mentioned synths.

I would guess that for most here, it's not "out of reach" so much as it simply doesn't give enough value. I would guess that for almost all of the regulars here $500 is a drop in the bucket compared to what they've spent on music. These threads are always about perceived value, not the actual sticker price, per se.
