It seems that Omnisphere has a special type of synthesis called Forumember Arguesis.
It causes forum members to oscillate with inverse wave phases..

If some people would actually spend the time they burn by debating about Omniwhatever, working on something productive they could all afford ten Omnis and some.

Being able to afford ten licenses is not a reason to own one.

The song ain't gonna get me 500 bucks....but I'm glad I have omni (today) :hihi:

If Spectrasonics gave a bundle price of
Omni/Trilian/RMX for say,
$649.00 MSRP with a MAP at $599.00
In Cart pricing becoming $539.00
(Noting they would be bought as a bundle and couldn't be sold after except as a bundle.)

Who would jump on that?
I might.
I wouldn't... I already have massive GB's of sample based stuff that I hardly ever use as it is...

maybe if Spectrasonics released Minisphere (just the synth engine without the samples) for $150 I might buy it.
strange, considering your angle seems to be how 'lacking' the synth engine is
which was merely some perspective on the direct or implied claims that Omni can do anything...

It cannot do the Minimoog emulation of Monark
or the audio rate modulation of Bazille
or the Buchla-esque tones of Aalto
or the additive synthesis and resynthesis of Harmor
etc etc

No synth can be everything... doesn't mean it's lacking, but it does mean it might not suit everyones interests. For the price of Omni, you can buy the 4 above mentioned synths.
Sure.,You can also download 1,000 free synths, some with
unique and often utterly crappy sounds. I think, that omni
enthusiasts like the quality of the sounds, not obsessing with
what family of synthesis is used by the synth. Furthermore
since omni produces wonderful sounds most of the time, and since the
set of conceivable mediocre or crap sounds is infinite, there is an infinity of sounds not covered by omni. Omni users can live with that
"limitation".

Yet, you seem obsessed with Omnisphere.

Everyone is obsessed with omnisphere!

I don't get too bent, I've been pretty outspoken about a couple of things in the past :hihi: But I have to say, as someone who has had NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER with omni, I do struggle with a bit of it

Well done to all involved, we've all generated huge amounts of hot air with almost no discernable substance. OK, you could collate a few posts together (call them pages 1 and 2) and it would be useful, but that's about it.

Well, this has been fun. I'll leave you all to it for this thread - see you all in 6 months on the next one. :tu:

I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

The envelope is pure CRAP!!
Its annoying as hell.

1. Inserting nodes. Its not a matter of simply double or right clicking. You have to right click, scroll down to add and then it inserts it at some random spot, not where you want. Same thing with shapes.

2. Looping is a bitch..its hard to figure out where the 4th beat ends.

3. THERE IS NO REAL GRAPH!!! This annoys the crap out of me. Its just beat 1, 2, 3, 4. So you have to guess somewhere between each beat if you want 1/8th, 1/16th etc.

The arp is the most useable Ive come across and that kinda compensates. But if you used to modulating with envelopes with the greatest of ease, you're gonna hate doing it in Omni. Get the LFO tool, it does it in a tenth of the time if you buy OMNIsphere.

Absolutely true, could be applied to so many threads. :) But then, i can understand why people like to argue about certain things. What i don't understand is arguing for the arguing's sake though, and producing nothing productive. Really, who cares if product XY is too pricey? Some people will buy it, some won't. Big deal. The price is defined by what the market offers, not by the real value of the product (what is that anyway? iIt doesn't exist. All is relative.). Otherwise an iPhone wouldn't cost 800 €.

Bottome line is, when i see something, and i think "OMG, is that expensive...", then that's merely my opinion. It could be true, or it could be not. And that's basically what this thread is, a collection of opinions. Irrelevant to me, if i would be thinking about buying Omnisphere.
